Having painted weddings in the USA, I’ve seen some amazing traditions that I’d love to see Dutch couples steal. Here are my favorites:
🇺🇸🇳🇱

𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: Personalizing the bar with two custom drinks named after the couple (or their pet!). 🍸🐶

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Giving the bouquet directly to the mom as a heartfelt thank you.

𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: The bridal party entering the reception with big energy and custom songs to set the mood immediately.

𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁-𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆: Keeping dinner quick and simple so the dance floor opens earlier.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Inviting the longest-married couple onto the floor first, then building up to the newlyweds. Guarantees a packed dance floor!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆: Because the end of the reception shouldn’t mean the night is over.

Which one of these would you want at your wedding? 👇

Katie + Sam’s wedding was pure magic!
A gorgeous blend of two beautiful cultures coming together. Here’s a little glimp into how I captured their story! 🥰

I also had the pleasure of working alongside the amazing photographer @willowgrovestudios
Location: @themidnightgem

The nerves got me! I was so focused that I completely forgot to hit record for the faces! Once’s they where done, I got right into the flow! 😌

The stunning dress is coming to life 🫶🏻

40% done

Time to bring in the magic: adding the colorful flowers 🌺 🌸

85% finished by the end of the night! It was time to wrap up and take the canvas back to the studio for the final details.

I loved that the whole party was going on right behind me while I worked! I truly enjoyed every single moment of this beautiful wedding! Congratulations again Katie and Sam! 🤍🤍 taken in The Midnight Gem by @leeni_studio

Capturing Mary & Patch at @davenportcountryclub!

We grabbed their reference photo on the golf course right after the ceremony, and I painted the rest of the night away. I’m so in love with how this one came together!

Final touches in the studio next!

Which detail is your favorite? Let me know below!

One of my favorite parts of being a wedding content creator is getting to meet and work alongside so many incredibly talented vendors. 🕊️

Live art as part of your day is something special. Getting to watch her do her thing in real time was genuinely jaw dropping, and seeing a moment from the day turn into something they’ll keep forever made it even better.

Too relatable? 🙃 Sometimes you’re just too close to the piece and your brain decides everything is ‘wrong’. It’s a constant battle against your own perfectionism. Your biggest opponent is definitely you.

Fellow creators, do you also have those days? 👇

This big boy is huge! 🤯

Prepping big canvases is always a whole workout, but the first layer is done! Can’t wait to share the real magic with you all

And yes, it might look a bit strange that the top was already prepped once the canvas was upright. But I started on the floor for the top part, and then had to move it upright just to reach the middle! 🪜😂

What’s the biggest canvas you’ve ever worked on? 👇

The start of a painting!

Working on the underpainting, a grisaille.
Reducing everything to light and shadow, shape and subtle value.
No color for now, just learning to truly see.
This is where the foundation is laid, where the story begins to breathe.

Which part of the process is your favorite to watch? The raw first strokes or those final tiny details? 🖌️

This piece is almost finished! Just a few more touches to capture the magic of this moment.

An ordinary day that, years later, becomes priceless ✨
A memory from an old photograph that I was able to capture on canvas. It was such an honor creating this small piece.
