i don’t know wtf is going on in the world or my life (lol) but i do know how beautiful & healing our music community can be.

such a joy to be on this bill with a bunch of other great artists. if you also need a bit of reprieve - dm/contact me for address & see you tomorrow :)

sucker punch is now yours

it was never really *mine* though. these songs came to me throughout the past decade. they allowed me to illustrate & put words to all the things shaking around in my head. and then…they passed from me to my support system.

small nights spent with dear friends sharing art together, post rehearsal conversations turned part writing, existential crises over a “quick cup of coffee”, facetimes with long distanced dear ones, sitting on my friends kitchen floor surrounded by the best, familiar faces - all reminded me why I wrote these songs in the first place.

I can’t thank you enough - family by blood or choice - for helping me put these songs into more permanence. and for helping shape them so much along the way. love you all dearly.

@tayrawls @bf.oneill - thank you again for all your time, attention and friendship in making this ep. (FYI if you’re looking for a great way to spend a week it is making an EP with these two)

Tay has a top of the notch studio with an equally top of the notch heart & extra care for the music you’re bringing to the table. from guided morning meditations, to efficient editing and COMPCITY, to endless taste, steadfast friendship and incredible musicianship - Tay got it all.

Brando is as talented as he is generous and kind. an absolute cheerleader and undoubtedly one of the hardest workers I know. from multiple brew ups, to playing a different instrument on every song, to always emphasizing the heart behind what we were capturing - Brando also has it all.

And finally to @matthew_mixes for mixing and mixing and mixing - thank you for making sense out of my nonsense & for your inspiration, love & support in the whole process. my bestest friend and the one who makes me want to be a good person ❤️

ok that’s all for now. hope you enjoyed getting sucker punched, if not you can still get your complimentary KO on the house, wherever you get your music! 🥊 taken in Richmond, Virginia by @leenyleenyleen

two weeks until sucker punch is out 🪡

a little over a year ago I spent a week at @tayrawls studio with him and @bf.oneill filling out and stitching together these 5 songs I had. It’s funny how older songs can still find new ways to tear into you in every phase.

I am so incredibly grateful for the time and attention Brando and Tay gave to these songs. We covered a lot of ground between the three of us - and somehow, despite what this video compilation shows, captured an ep that means so much to me.

fool’s spring and fist fight are out now if you’d like to listen, maybe a surprise next week too idk
