“Live to fight, fight to LIVE!!”

Firefly is one of those characters that has quickly become an all time favorite. But her story struck a chord with me in a way that no one has since Saki came into my life in 2022. If you know Penacony, you probably know what I mean! But if not, here’s the shortest breakdown I could give lol. Includes minor spoilers in case you care (though it’s been a while since release)

Firefly was born to be a super soldier and weapon for a war across the cosmos that had settled on the planet she was created on. As a safety mechanism, the scientists behind the Iron Cavalry made it so that if a soldier were to leave their planet and disobey their orders, they would slowly die when they stepped outside of the mech suits that they created. I believe the words used is that you would slow and fade away until you eventually stop for good. And so, she is trapped inside of her mech or inside of a life support pod for practically her whole life.

But she still dreams. She pushes herself past her breaking point to get the chance to live. She finds meaning in moments of silence and moments of joy. As a disabled person, it means so much to me to find a character that lives every day with the physical barrier to connecting that I have spent my life with. There is an invisible wall that other people, even friends, don’t realize that they’ve drawn. You could be the most supported in the world, like Firefly and the other Stellaron Hunters, but that divide is still there. So the way that she lives unapologetically and forcefully despite that distance is beautiful. Beautifully written and inspirational to people like myself.

Furthermore, her voice actors for the America and Japan servers are also disabled!! Which is genuinely so meaningful, especially as a person trying to break into the field myself. All that sappy stuff to say I’m glad I got to cosplay her and I felt really cool and pretty :))))

🩷💚 The World’s Continuation - One Piece Film Red - 🏆 Best in Show Performance

MY PERFORMANCE WAS FINALLY UPLOADED!! I’m so proud of myself with this one!! The cut out is where the mic peaked weirdly so I edited it to be silent there :p I spent months working on this skit and especially the background visuals!! I hope you’ll enjoy it :D

🪡- Me!!
💇 - Me!!

Full Transparency: I did some slight audio editing because the mics provided peaked and also literally changed the pitch of a few of the notes?? So I did minor adjustments :)

Hanamaru day!!! ⭐️🐠🌊

Back in July, Milkyway came together and filmed a super special project! I sewed together this cosplay in just 3 days, and definitely want to revamp it. I accidentally made the skirt too tight, and should’ve given it more ruffle. I’ll definitely do that before I wear her again! I adore being Hanamaru and love that I’ve gotten to be her a few times. I also love her singing voice, and might even cover this song soon 👀

Parfait Cookie!!! 🍒🎸💫

okay bc I NEEEEED to cosplay her again I had so much fun, even if I was v much not recognized 😭 I love Parfait and loved getting to carry her energy :D the wig was so much fun to make, too (even if I was totally exhausted while I was doing it)! Only thing is I left the bangs way too long and need to grab a little black weft for the streak in her hair. I tried doing it with sharpie and… well it didn’t work out. It’s alright, though! There’s always next time.

Tell me about your next cosplay plans in the comments 👀

Thank you all for an incredible Matsuricon masquerade!! I genuinely had so so much fun at this one 😭 performing will forever be my passion and I’m grateful I had the chance to share the stage with so many incredible performers 🥹 I barely got any photos on Saturday, but a huge thank you to @iroun.photos for getting this lovely stage photo!!

I’d love to clean this cosplay and performance up and do it again someday :))) once I work up the courage to brave the props again haha!! Let me know if you guys want me to upload my Crossing the Line cover anywhere, as well 👀

Oh, Irene, what I wouldn’t do for you…

I’ve been sitting on my Emmalyn cosplay for FARRRR too long at this point lol!!! Honestly Emmalyn/ghost being my second favorite character from MCD/Mystreet is such a weird pull for me but I’m so happy whenever I cosplay her!!! She is a freak and it brings me joy to feel her insanity in cosplay lol. The version I cosplay is specifically her on the celestial cannon while Lady Aphmau fights Shad for Alina’s relic/life (and btwbtw I think EMMALYN was one of the relics Irene used to defeat shad but that’s another story for another day) when her life kinda reached its climax before she split herself in two and became GHOST!!!! Kimmalyn is so cool and it shows a lot about what Emmalyn’s life was like in the MANY years we didn’t get since MCD ended abruptly (though for good reason). Like how she learned to use magic from (seemingly) MCD era Lucinda and it makes me tear up thinking about how MS era Emmalyn is re-teaching Lucinda magic after the events of S6 :,) Watching her arc play out during MCD S3 was also genuinely so crazy. Watching her go from her more timid librarian caricature to having intent to kill (though it was always in her I’m sure of it) Anyways that’s enough yapping about how awesome she is (for now)

“Things might get hard from time to time, but I’ll always be rooting for you. Let’s keep doing our best to make our dreams come true!!”

The beautiful sets built by @abicandi allowed me to create a beautiful scene and a dream photo of mine!! This is Saki’s white day card from 2025 (2026 on EN) and it is to date my favorite card of hers. It is so so pretty. I need to do her some more justice and sew up a new dress, but for now, I’m happy I get to cosplay one of my favorite characters of all time!!

To get a bit sappy, thank you all SO MUCH for a phenomenal experience at Tekko this year. It was my first experience judging the performance part of a cosplay contest, and it was an absolute blast getting to watch every performer in detail and getting to meet so many lovely people!! Everyone I talked to was so so sweet :D I hope to get the opportunity to do this again someday soon. :)
