It is the exciting reveal of the Otley Run song tomorrow at St Michaels Square, between The Skyrack Pub and St Michaels Church - Saturday 25th July from 2-4pm. Working with Anna Douglas Lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Leeds @annafdouglas we were able to secure funding to explore the use of creativity to support challenging local issues.The Otley Run, a decades-old ‘right of passage’ for local students has, over recent years, become a serious source of concern for local residents and businesses. With up to 3000 people descending on Headingley and Hyde Park residential areas every Saturday, the challenge of how to manage the impact from the related anti-social behaviour at such a large booze-fuelled event has yet to be resolved!In the meantime, The Otley Run Complaints Choir has created a space for everyone to have their say - be they lovers or haters - the insight from which has informed the Otley Run Song - written by local Singer Song-writer @orchestraofobjects Nicky Bray. Very talented Nicky has created a fantastic song and performance, leading an enthusiastic choir made up of local people all dressed up in costumes curated by Stylist @martha_thorpe_ Martha Thorpe - using recycled materials and clothing from local Charity Shops to create imaginative characters.Everyone is welcome to come along to the event tomorrow - expect colourful characters and lots of fun and of course the amazing Otley Run Song!
