“The sense of the film is overwhelmingly violent; there's no consideration for anything else. The answer to everything is "kill".” - M. Scorsese
The year: 1964. The place: the blood-soaked Congo during the struggle for its independence from Belgium. The job: take a train 300 miles through dangerous Simba rebel territory to rescue 62 refugees and retrieve $50 million in uncut diamonds. Time allowed: 3 days.
Chances for survival: slim.
To soldier of fortune Bruce Curry (Rod Taylor), the assignment means a chance for a handsome $50,000 pay-day. To his partner, Ruffo Jim Brown), it means returning to his homeland to help his people. #ripscifiguy #demolitionwarfare by @leftfieldtheory

Found this one about 10 years ago in a small town junk shop in rural Ontario. Truly as the Lord intended. I wish I was more of a fiend back then. The collection they had was crazy. Only picked up a handful of tapes. But it was my first true VHS discovery so I was just dipping my toes. Not quite sure what I was discovering. But after I rummaged a VCR and watched a few of the tapes I found (including Bronx, Night Warning, Kill Zone) I was hooked. The power of the format was so clear to me.

Curbside find. Randomly driving along and saw this out front of someone’s house. Pulled a few big boxes of tapes and books out of here. Mostly sci-fi. Spoke to the people in the house. The owner of the archive recently died. It was lucky I drove by before trash day. Some really cool stuff. The collector was a beast. RIP fellow media fiend. Another dead man’s dead media collection lives on. #deadmanschest #curbsidefind by @leftfieldtheory
