The right rooms can change the way you build.

Grateful to Rocio for inviting me to the Women’s Business Center of Charlotte at the @thenatlinstitute (National Institute of Minority Economic Development) — and for reminding me yes, they help men too. Got to sit in on an @sbagov event with Aregnaz (Arē) and watch entrepreneurs build with real resources behind them.

Here’s what most owners don’t see coming:

You can grow the business and still be exposed. Nobody tells you that until it’s too late — until the income stops, or the exit comes, and you realize the two were never actually connected.

I help businesses see what others miss. Most owners are playing two separate games — the business, and their personal financial future — as if one guarantees the other. It doesn’t.

→ Retirement outside the business — do you have one?

As a Marine, I don’t have much Army history—much more than my brother’s stories, and that one time I vacationed in the foxholes of Afghanistan.

My Salvation Army team does. I learned how their history wasn’t a “wait and see” policy. They wanted to attack hunger and housing the unhoused. If there’s one thing about me, I do love a good plan of attack.

What an incredible conversation. What an overlap of service to the community.
