Perfumer Spyros Drosopoulos and the Institute for Art and Olfaction return to the stunning Chateau Le Grippault in the Loire Valley in October, with the latest of our popular perfume intensives.

This course presents an excellent opportunity for practicing and aspiring perfumers to delve deeply into the science (and art) of working with scent, led by an experienced instructor and a facts-driven curriculum that focuses on technical proficiency and deep materials knowledge.

Limited to eight people, mornings are spent in lecture, afternoons in practice, and evenings in the enjoyment of freshly cooked French cuisine, wine, and lots of laughter.

Are you an artist, or are you working on an artistic project?

Are you longing for a week to work without being distracted by the madness of everyday life?

This December, between Sinterklaas and Christmas, we’re offering eight artists per week the opportunity to immerse themselves in the inspiring atmosphere of Le Grippault.

During the day, you work on your own project. In the evening, you cook and eat together. You can work wherever you like: in your own room, in the attic, in the garden, in the woods… make yourself at home. A Bechstein grand piano and an extensive collection of records and books are at your disposal.

December One Week Residencies:

- Arrival Sunday 6 December → Departure Sunday 13 December
- Arrival Sunday 13 December → Departure Sunday 20 December

Price, according to means: €45, €60 or €75 per night.

We are very happy to announce our 2027 programme of painting masterclasses.

Next year, we will host two plein-air masterclasses with Bairbre Duggan, in May and September. Rogier Willems will focus on figure painting in March. And last but not least, our friend Sven Kroner will be back at Le Grippault in October with his masterclass on visual storytelling.

What a wonderfull morning with Sylvie Glenisson at her magical workshop with loads of costumes at the place du marché in Richelieu. Week 3 of our theatre project is on its way and the students and us are having an exquisite time. Focussing on Cardinal Richelieu, site specific theatre in a historical city context and ofcourse wearing lots of hats and cloaks. Engarde! Een week lang lezen, wat zou dat fijn zijn!

Met dit simpele idee begonnen wij aan de ontwikkeling van onze allereerste leesretraite op Le Grippault. Voor de haard met een boek, in bed met een boek, op de bank met een boek, voor het raam met uitzicht op het mistige landschap met een boek. Wij zagen het al helemaal voor ons.

Samen met Akke Visser van Samenleesclub maakten we een programma voor een week zelf lang lezen, lezen met elkaar, wandelen, een literaire excursie en natuurlijk heel lekker eten.

Je hebt veel tijd om zelf te lezen en krijgt uitgebreid boekenadvies van Akke. Daarnaast lezen we dagelijks samen met de andere deelnemers, volgens de methode van shared reading.

De eerste leesretraite vindt plaats van 14 tot 20 februari 2027, dé leesmaand bij uitstek, vinden we.

A week and a half ago, these eight amazing people arrived at Académie Le Grippault. For five weeks, they’ll be learning everything there is to know about site-specific theatre from Jeroen.

Under the name Regenerating Theatre, eight students are exploring how to live and work as a collective. And, above all, how they can use the collective and the rural surroundings of Le Grippault and Richelieu as a starting point for creating new work.

There are seven women and one man: aspiring directors, actors and performers from Toneelacademie Maastricht. This week, they are spending two days on observation placements with local entrepreneurs and organisations. As embedded journalists, they’re trying to truly understand the lives and work of the people they meet — and then turn their experiences into a theatrical presentation in a very short amount of time.

A challenging but incredibly rewarding assignment and the results are fantastic.

We’ll be sharing more about this special project over the coming weeks. For now, here’s a little sneak peek.

🇫🇷 Français

Il y a une semaine et demie, ces huit personnes extraordinaires sont arrivées à l’Académie Le Grippault. Pendant cinq semaines, elles vont découvrir tout ce qu’il faut savoir sur le théâtre de site avec Jeroen.

Sous le nom de Regenerating Theatre, huit étudiants explorent comment vivre et travailler en collectif. Et surtout, comment utiliser le collectif et l’environnement rural de Le Grippault et de Richelieu comme point de départ pour créer de nouveaux projets artistiques.

Ils sont sept femmes et un homme : de jeunes metteurs et metteuses en scène, comédiens et comédiennes et artistes-performeurs et performeuses en devenir, issus de la Toneelacademie Maastricht. Cette semaine, ils passent deux jours en immersion auprès d’entrepreneurs, d’entrepreneuses et d’organisations locales. En tant que journalistes embarqués, ils cherchent à comprendre au plus près la vie et le travail des personnes qu’ils rencontrent, pour ensuite transformer leurs expériences en une présentation théâtrale en très peu de temps.

Wait for the end of the video. When we bought our kitchen we made the mistake of choosing a wooden counter top. That didn’t proove very well suited for heavy use…Now look at this beautiful natural stone ouh la laaaaa! 💫 by @legrippault

Dit jaar is het 5 jaar geleden dat @fleurrenes, @knotshot en @boudinadivera hun gezamenlijke kantoor 't Huys Makelaardij zijn gestart. Om dat te vieren zijn we vorige week met het hele kantoor (met @llaraas, Boukje Timmers, Sabine van den Eynden en @minos_nlcy, we zijn inmiddels met z'n zevenen) voor vier nachten naar Frankrijk afgereisd, naar het beeldschone @legrippault (mét zwembad!) in de Loire-vallei. De leuke, lieve en zeer gastvrije eigenaren Leonoor en Jeroen hadden een mooi en inspirerend programma samengesteld met wandelingen door de prachtige omgeving en natuurlijk, heel passend voor ons, bezoekjes aan historische landhuizen. Zo hebben we van een rondleiding en een lunch genoten bij @forteressedeberrye waar we natuurlijk niet zonder de nodige doosjes wijn konden vertrekken. Bij @chateaudebelebat keken we onze ogen uit en hebben we met kaarslicht gedineerd met onze, onder leiding van Oscar, zelfgemaakte pasta. Al onze zintuigen werden deze dagen geprikkeld. Het was onvergetelijk voor ons allemaal!
