Honestly one of the greatest nights of my life and you don’t get to a place like this without immense support. From family and my amazing wife @rhian_emma who always back me, to crew who work tirelessly to get things done. Thank you to everyone who’s helped me along the way. I’ve learnt so much from this entire experience. Well done to all the other award winners on our special show about a place I call home. Can I retire now?

Symmetry has always been a big part of the visual grammar of our wides, whilst the tighter frames give us space to explore light, shape, context and making the best use of the location we’re in.

OUR WREXHAM FILM IS OUT NOW 😝

Created by our Doc School, “3 Generations in Wrexham” follows Joe, a local skateboarder, artist Liam Stokes-Massey and bell ringer Peter.

Although the three subjects could hardly be more different, the film finds a common thread between them. Each has found a way to express themselves, connect with other people and build a community around something they care deeply about.

Together, their stories offer a portrait of a Wrexham that exists beyond our incredibly famous football club, showcasing some of the alternative passions and traditions that make the city such an interesting and culturally rich place.

Three Generations was created by participants in 73 Degree Films’ Documentary School, which took place in Wrexham earlier this year. The free course brought together over 30 people of different ages and abilities to learn documentary filmmaking from a range of professional filmmakers, including Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Leighton Cox, recognised for his work on Welcome to Wrexham.

Robert Corcoran, producer of the course, said:
“Over the last 5 years, thanks to Welcome to Wrexham and other shows, Wrexham has become renowned for documentary filmmaking, so we really wanted to create a fun and free way for local people to be able to gain new skills and try it out themselves, led by those working at the cutting edge of the industry.”

The Documentary School was made possible thanks to supporters Ymddiried, Wrecsam2029, Arts & Business Cymru and The Foundry 😌 And of course a huge thank you to our teachers and masterclass hosts: @st_evens88 @emmimanteau @leightoncox, @alicewhughes and @rcorcoran1 😁 Plus @pencilcraftsman, @leonbowenphotofilm, St Giles and others that were involved along the way and helped us to make something really great!

There’s something truly magical about being thousands of miles away from home… and finding a little piece of Wrexham waiting for you.

The game, the atmosphere, catching up with familiar faces. Meeting brilliant fans from all over the world and those closer to home.

Incredibly lucky to have shared the experience with this lot. Thank you for the laughs and bringing the party!

You Came for the Name - @wrecsam2029 City of Culture Bid film.

Honestly some of my work I’m most proud of, opportunities like this don’t come around very often…..working with, produced by, directed by, starring all local talent and for one mighty collective cause.

Proud to have been Director of Photography, heading up an incredible local camera team. Two days. Over 50 setups. Everyone completely dialled in and pulling in the same direction.

The opening shot of @marklewisjones64 comes to mind. On the hottest day of the year, in intense midday sun, we still managed to create some contrast/shape for his opening monologue….126ft above the ground on Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. We had about three takes to get it right while holding up around 200 tourists trying to cross… all whilst keeping tabs on the Wrexham v Middlesbrough score. A proper team effort and some elite multitasking.

A fitting tribute to what can be achieved when the right people come together and believe in what they’re making.

Some of these frames might just be my favourite work yet.
