(Perhaps) my favorite piece from this year…

As I’ve gotten into solvent-free oil painting, I’ve become a lot more willing to paint in general and it’s been a fun and enlightening revisit to the medium. I feel more in-tune with myself artistically, and I think I’ve been able to create some work recently that’s pivoting me into a direction I want to explore more deeply.

I’m feeling a lot better about things, and I’m heading into my break from school with anticipation and hope :>

I’m centering my color theory projects this term around fashion, and this piece is a nod to VIvienne Westwood. Figuring out how to print this properly as my first print came out way too dull and dark and keyed all the colors to a desaturated purplish gray… :p

my re-pres final:

lots of mixed feelings in regards to this class, but I think taking it has helped me learn a lot about myself.

this piece was inspired by censorship and book-banning, and morphed into something positive and hopeful at its end. it’s a portrayal of the joy of reading and learning under a system of oppression. (ft. me at the end during de-installation!)

my best/favorite prints from printmaking this term; I’ve never done anything like this before, but I had a lot of fun learning and being in the studio!

1. photo engraving + chine collé
2. intaglio etching

5. silkscreen…didn’t scan correctly bc the full image is a postage stamp.. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

live cafe sketching + some cool ppl spotted during my trip to yosemite ! i don’t have much experience drawing in public like this but i ended up having a great time ! (also my first time using lePen and i’m pleasantly surprised :0 now looking to expand my collection as i only have 3 colors….)

shoe practice: ballpoint pen for the sketchbook pages based off photo references, graphite for the larger pieces drawn from life (my shoes !) …5 mins each small shoe(?) not sure lol. around 15 mins for the larger shoes.
