#wheninmammoth 🏔 #tutusandboots 👗+👢make me happy 🥰Last year I was asked to play a part in a film, after I read it ( the script was fun ) we discussed how I would love to portray the character differently with agreement & so, I decided to help my first time "friend" in navigating these treacherous industry waters since he stated he knew peeps but none seemed that interested in really diggin' in. ( 🚩 ) I decided only to help through resources/contacts I've developed over years in the industry ( thank goodness 🙌🏽 ) but I started to notice ego in play so I stepped back in involvement and when I felt pushed as a woman, then as a black woman to be stereotypical in the role - instead of what I had invisioned, I could see the steering into "playing it like black women should do...", I told him I quit and didn't want to have anything to do with the project. Wished him well but dueces ✌🏽 quietly...This #poc - not black - not only told folks I was fired but that "I WASN'T BLACK ENOUGH" 🤣 - ummmmmmmm sir...cause i felt it was unnecessary for this particular role??? Tell that to the peeps that I've just booked a film through and to the peeps that know me very well, but what in the hell is #blackenough 🤷🏾‍♀️ Disrespectfully 🖕🏽Unfriended and blocked cause I gots no time for #stupid nor numnuts pretending to be for ya but just wantin' somethin' from ya...hated that I got some wonderful friends & artists involved but grateful they were able to walk away 🙏🏽 Then booked #squidgame 🦑 within a couple of weeks 🫢When I received credit ( outta guilt/appeasement or him wanting it linked to me ) I immediately had it removed cause not all actors are desperate for acknowledgement, some of us just wanna create with good people 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽#myarties 💞 you can say no, keep your vision especially if it was discussed with room for change but not straight into same stereotypes you've avoided & still thrive cause #thecreamalwaysrises 🫰🏽but ya gotta believe that 🫶🏽#quainphoto 📸 didn't know he'd be takin' pics & wasn't as prepared as he'd like to have been out in these #mammothstreets but still captured me 🥹 #moretocome#storytime #actresslife 🎭 #photoshoot by @leilanimariesmith

#squidgame3 😭I've loved this show since the beginning 🫶🏽No spoilers...yet 👀 binged this show for the 1st time eva and will be catching the #dubbed version this week cause I'm a #subtitle kinda gal no matter what job I did 😂Being #blackandkorean has made it difficult to make any hedgeway in the #asianmarket cause how many #blasians do you see in any #asiangenre - this moment for me has taken over 15+ years 😮‍💨My credit on #imdb was removed and I had to go through hoops to get it back up, I'm assuming cause I don't fit the bill...but here we are - 5 episodes in Season 2 and a few in Season 3 🫰🏽Absolutely #grateful & #humbled 🙏🏽 to have gotten this opportunity so #myumma 👵🏼could actually see/hear that I've done something/anything #Korean and on this level 🥹 It took the open vision of @kjopson to see my different art take and run with it 🤌🏽 cause it takes special people to make you see that your different is needed and not in the normal way 🙌🏽Loved I was able to #voice the very fun character #theshaman #player044 brought to life by #chaekookhee 💞Lucky to have #mybeast 👹 put me in pictures 🤣#koreanandblack 🇰🇷✊🏽 #blasian #dubbinggal 🎧 #dubbing #voiceovergal 🗣 #voiceover #actresslife 🎭 #actress #keepdreaming #keeppushing #keepknocking 👊🏽 #keepgivingthatdifferent ❤️‍🔥 #theygonnaknowme 😌 by @leilanimariesmith

#philly Day 4 mornin' to early afternoon Walked 🚶🏾‍♀️ourselves to #thereadingterminalmarket for a N'awlins brekkie & the famous #4thstreetcookie 🍪 we stored for later...( some fronts closed on Sundays 😭 )Then it was off to America's first penitentiary #easternstatepenitentiary turned #museum 👀 Where we were guided by the voice of stevebuscemi 🫨 & others through corridors that scenes from 12 Monkeys, Transformers & Tina Turner's video of this song were shot 📽Flipped off Nancy - the war on drugs, saw the cost of incarceration vs. College ( guess which is cheaper 😔 ) & felt saddened for so many souls who spent their lives here being hurt by the system.So glad this space is now used to educate those who choose to be 🙏🏽Next stop...dem steps!!! by @leilanimariesmith

#philly day 38a #historytalks with brekkie firstWent upstairs to a longer line for lunch only to almost miss Obama talk 🤦🏾‍♀️ Saw the Bushes, the Clintons, the Bidens & both Obamas ( thank goodness for not havin' to sit through the current admin ) plus a plethora of other guests you've gotta tune in for...👀Then made our way all ova Philly where we ended up at a sold out Magic Gardens cause of a school trip 🤪 ( we go back the next day ) took pics at the oldest street as well as a neighborhood full of cherry blossoms 🌸 trekked to 1-900-ice cream 🍦 to cool off, took pics at the iconic #lovesculpture 🫶🏽 hit up #Chinatown for some good eats at Fenang as well as the #bestboba 🧋 in town Chicha San Chen that made you understand why you love the chewy goodness 😋 for our walk home...We got in exhausted but tickled at how much we were enjoying all of Philly 🫰🏽 by @leilanimariesmith

Day 2 evening ✔️ in #PhillyAte at noted #themostromantic restaurant in Old City of Philly @bistro.romano 🫶🏽🌟goat cheese dip - neva had anything like it ( upgraded artichoke dip on anotha level )🍹lombard lemonade💥lobster ravioli 😘affagato Truly an experience descending into the "basement" 🫰🏽Then off to Kimmel Center 🤩 with Michele & Paul ( #historytalks ) to see John Mayer ( 1st time seeing him ) for a very funny musical set I couldn't take pics of 😭Whatta night 🥰#phillytrip 🧳 #phillylove 💗 by @leilanimariesmith

My first real #cheesesteak 🥪 in #philly 💗House made sesame sourdough bread & Michelin awarded Bib Gourmand @delrossischeesesteakco 🌟The food culture is real real here 😋Walked to @honeyssitneat 😍 for brekkieLocal joint & had their #keylimepancakes 🥞 & #saltedmaplelatte ☕️ so damn good 👏🏽Then walked all ova #fishtown where Philly love 🧡, f*ck ice 🖕🏽 & fishies 🐟 were the rage 🥳 stopped by a cool vintage thrift, got a yes to a zoom callback & made our way to the bridge 🌉Had custard pastries 🍩 & a lemon iced coffee @gildaphilly that refreshed our walk about town 🫰🏽 ( Portuguese bakery )Now the call back went horribly wrong - everything I thought I heard I was suppose to do, was the opposite 🤪 I was already a bit off cause I had planned to not go to Philly if I had this callback which was suppose to happen before I left but when we got into town, I received my notification. Thank goodness for my agent gettin' me the zoom 🤲🏽 - it wasn't mine and ever so glad I decided to be in Philly cause the cheese steak was my reward that night 🤌🏽Can't wait to share more...💕 I felt so at home here 🫶🏽 by @leilanimariesmith
