Dear Women’s USA Olympic Hockey Team — First, congratulations! Second: I feel you. I drove race cars on and off for 19 years (often the only woman on the track) and the amount of misogynistic crap I put up with in the racing garage was insane. The U.S. Men’s Hockey Team has now shown you their true colors. Believe them. They are not friends of your team or to women in general. I’m so tired of this misogyny in sports and everywhere else in American life, to be honest. The patriarchy sucks. Grow the fuck up or hand the keys over to the ladies. Maybe it’s time we drive. by @leilanimunter

Happy 87th Birthday to the incredible and unstoppable @richardobarry! We had a big pod of dolphins swim by us in New Zealand today and I think it was in honor of your birthday. Sometimes I get teased for being a birder. It’s long been considered a dorky or nerdy hobby, I get it. But birding has taken us on so many adventures to beautiful places, like this park in Sydney. We recorded six new species today, including a Laughing Kookaburra and a Tawny Frogmouth (bucket list bird!) bringing us to 732 total recorded species so far. I think this is a great use of the time we have left, walking in nature and going on a treasure hunt of the feathered variety — often times I feel the wonder and excitement I felt as a kid when I see a new species. I love birding because it allows us to be big kids. 10/10 highly recommend. 🩵 taken in Sydney by @leilanimunter

I think Aotearoa New Zealand has the most beautiful money — both aesthetically and because each note honors a native bird: Hoiho or Yellow-eyed Penguin ($5) Whio or Blue Duck ($10) Kārearea or New Zealand Falcon ($20) Kōkako ($50) and the Mohua or Yellowhead ($100). Seven breached Planetary Boundaries continue to worsen as record ocean heat, droughts, floods, wildfires and extreme heat reveal an Earth system under strain, according to the latest Planetary Health Check. The annual update is authored by more than 60 scientists and produced by the Planetary Boundaries Science Lab at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).

The Planetary Boundaries describe the interconnected Earth-system processes that must remain within safe limits to preserve the planet’s stability and resilience. Seven of the nine Planetary Boundaries are now transgressed, with ocean acidification the latest to breach its boundary in 2025. All seven are now at their highest recorded levels of transgression.
