, An excerpt from The Selves Within Me ,

In complete contrast to him, there is someone I have named “Storm.”
Whenever he appears,
he strikes everything like thunder and lightning.
When something doesn’t go the way he wants,
he starts kicking and screaming.
He screams so loudly that it reaches the ceiling and throws everything into chaos.
In the room, the furniture and toys fly through the air,
free and wild.

قسمتی از کتاب ؛
من های درون من
در تضاد کامل با او، کسی هست که من اسمش را
«طوفان» گذاشته‌ام.
هر وقت ظاهر می‌شود،
مثل رعد و برق به همه‌چیز ضربه می‌زند.
وقتی چیزی آن‌طور که می‌خواهد پیش نمی‌رود،
شروع می‌کند به لگد زدن و فریاد کشیدن.

The other me hides beneath the bed at night.
He sees things that do not exist—
broom monsters and chairs that can speak.
He has been with me since my very first day of school.
Every time I have to walk down that long hallway
and come face to face with the man in black and his giant dog,
he hides behind me,
thin and trembling like a sheet of paper.

‎برخلاف آن «من» دیگری که شب‌ها زیر تخت پنهان می‌شود.
‎او چیزهایی را می‌بیند که وجود ندارند.
‎هیولاهای جاروها و صندلی‌های سخنگو.
‎او از همان روز اول مدرسه با من است.
‎هر بار که باید از راهروی بلند عبور کنم
‎و به آقای سیاه و سگ غول‌پیکرش می‌رسم،
‎او پشت من قایم می‌شود،

Illustration: The Story of the Selves Within Me
To be honest, they’re not entirely wrong.
Because I’m not just myself; there’s always someone else within me.
A long procession of selves.
Sometimes quiet, sometimes loud.
One sits beside me, another walks behind me, while another climbs onto my shoulders.
Sometimes they’re visible, sometimes they’re not.
But no one has ever seen all of us together.
Not even me.

‎یکی هم هست که همیشه دلش می‌خواهد بخوابد.
‎زیر پتو، جلوی تلویزیون،
‎روی صندلی، ولو شده روی زمین،
‎یا نشسته روی نیمکت.
‎او از همه تنبل‌تر است.
‎آن‌قدر که حتماً یکی از ما باید کارهای خانه را انجام دهد.
‎چون او که فقط می‌خوابد،
‎کسی دیگر باید لباس بشوید،
‎دندان‌ها را مسواک بزند،
‎کفش‌ها را بپوشد و مرا تا مدرسه برساند.

من های درون من :

‎راستش، چندان هم اشتباه نمی‌کنند.
‎چون من فقط خودم نیستم، من همیشه یکی دیگر هم هستم.
‎یک صف طولانی از «من»ها.
‎گاهی آرام، گاهی پرهیاهو.
‎کنارم می‌نشیند، پشت سرم راه می‌رود یا روی شانه‌هایم بالا می‌رود.
‎گاهی دیده می‌شود، گاهی نه،
‎اما هیچ‌کس ما را با هم ندیده است.

‎همه به من نگاه می‌کنند و فقط من را می‌بینند.
‎هیچ چیز دیگر. من. یگانه، جدایی‌ناپذیر.
‎جز وقتی که دستم را شکسته بودم.
‎معلم‌ها، مامان و بابا، همسایه‌ها و حتی سگم فکر می‌کنند که مرا می‌شناسند.
‎اما بعد، هر از گاهی، چیزی از درونم سر برمی‌آورد:
‎«امروز من یکی دیگرم!»

The Selves Within Me

Everyone looks at me and sees only me.

Just me.

One person.
Whole. Complete.

Except for the time I broke my arm.

My teachers, my mom and dad, my neighbors—even my dog—think they know exactly who I am.

But every once in a while, someone else inside me quietly appears and says,

“Today, I’m someone different.”

اینجا آدما ، غیرمنتظره هااااایی رو تجربه کردن که بقیه ی آدمای دنیا فقط توو داستانها خوندن و توو فیلما دیدن ، با یه تفاوت بزرگ ، که اونا خواسته میخونن و میبینن ما ،، ناخواسته ناخواسته …
