2023 was a mixed bag, a year of releasing perfectionism, accepting that I can’t make everyone else happy, prioritising fitness & quality sleep, asking for help more often, appreciating the little things, spending time in nature, watching the sun rise, focusing only on what’s in my control & trusting the process. But with every high it is bound to be met with lows. Maybe I’ll always love a little too hard & care a little too much, maybe I’ll always get a little too excited or loud for gifts that aren’t reciprocated & maybe my efforts are put towards people who don’t always deserve it. With this comes heartache, pain, hurdles & downright dark days. But the truth is, love & kindness is the easiest part of life & the things I do best. Dear friends, Please don’t ever let me settle with anything, my goals, my dreams, my relationships & my life in general. Always push me to my full potential. Encourage me to say yes to things I’m afraid of. This year I vow to surround myself with relentless humans, people who plan in decades, but live in moments. Train like savages but create like artists. Obsess in work, relax in life. People who know this life is finite, & choose to play infinite games. For me, being bisexual is confidently flirting with men, but as soon as a woman smiles at me I suddenly forget how to be a person. 😂 I think part of me is so conscious of not making women feel uncomfortable, because I know how exhausting it can be to navigate a world where men sometimes mistake attention for entitlement. So somewhere along the way, I’ve started treating the possibility of making a woman uncomfortable as a reason not to approach her at all. There are parts of ourselves we can only meet when we stop trying to understand them & simply allow ourselves to feel. @xara.arcana’s workshop has become such a beautiful container for that. I’m meeting parts of myself I would usually move past. The messy feelings. The deep feelings. The feelings without a neat explanation. Being seen without performing ✨ 3wks into learning from the goddess @xara.arcana what it feels like to be witnessed in my body - exactly as I am. Sensual, soft, powerful, awkward, feminine, erotic, human. There’s something terrifying about taking off the armour & letting yourself be seen without trying to be anything for anyone & something incredibly liberating about discovering that safety doesn’t always mean hiding. It quite often means… staying. Staying in your body. Staying with the sensation. It’s terrifying. I’m wildly uncomfortable. & I F*CKING LOVE IT! Rich in life because I get to tear up with gratitude at the love that surrounds me, the small & huge gestures people show me to make me feel special or seen, the random crumpet from a stranger or a compliment on the d-floor. Happy birthday to my favourite human 🎨 In a week that stretched us, cracked us open and asked a little more of us… we still find our way back to laughter and what an amazing few days it’s been! To painting each other terribly, laughing until it hurts, cooking rice at midnight, cuddling up on the couch and remembering that even in the messy moments - there’s so so much love here.
