From Portugal we headed to Provence, France. Our first day of filming we visited @domainemasderey, a picturesque winery and estate producing some of the best bottles I’ve ever had (and most under €12!). The family who runs the winery welcomed us in like their own and we had many laughs while they shared their stories of the property. by @lelandsandberg

Of our travels across Portugal, one place that will forever stay top of my mind is the seaside village of Azenhas Do Mar. A short drive down the coast from the legendary waves of Nazaré, just west of Sintra, this quaint coastal community sits perched upon a dramatic cliffside.

Instantly once you arrive, you can feel life slow down. A place you could sit with a beer and watch the waves race along the natural pools for hours. Magical, peaceful, and beautiful. A place you would only ever find when you stray from the beaten path.

Lisbon, Portugal was a filming destination I’ll never forget. The hand painted tiles adorning every wall, the irresistible pasties de nata tempting you everywhere you go, the modern flare of places like JNcQUOI… but for our crew this might all be overshadowed by having filming interrupted by a historic nationwide blackout.

With cameras rolling, the power went out across the whole country of Portugal, as well as parts of Spain and France. Shops, restaurants, cell towers, everything went down. Modern life came to a standstill. But just like a good old Florida hurricane party, everyone cracked open a drink and took to the parks to socialize, speculate, and wait.

Luckily power was restored late that night, but we all gained a once-in-a-lifetime memory to cap off filming in Portugal. taken in Lisbon, Portugal by @lelandsandberg

We were honored to receive a rare invitation to visit the private ranch home of the Ordóñez family, one of the most prominent and storied dynasties in Spanish bullfighting.

The Ordóñez family also had a longstanding friendship with author Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway was deeply fascinated by the Spanish bullfighting tradition. He even used Cayetano Ordóñez as an inspiration for the character of Pedro in his acclaimed book The Sun Also Rises. Hemingway was a regular guest at the Ordóñez family ranch and wrote here during his time in Spain.

Filmmaker Orson Wells was also a close friend of the family who frequently visited the ranch. Their relationship was so close, that upon Wells death, he had his ashes entombed in a well in front of the house.

We headed North from Marbella to the picturesque town of Ronda, Spain. Home of one of the oldest bullrings in the world. The heart of the town is built on the edge of a cliff, with a deep chasm splitting the city center. Ronda’s iconic bridge has recently become a “must see” on many travelers’ lists, and for good reason. The views of the Spanish countryside are absolutely breathtaking.

The more we dig into the depths of Spain, the more excited I get to return in the future. The land, the people, the culture, and the history are so special. taken in Ronda, España by @lelandsandberg

We dig deep into the locations where we film Passport Properties, always looking for special and unique experiences to share with the world. This day off the shores of Costa del Sol, Spain was exactly that.

The awesome team at @escaramujowines took us out to show us how they age their wines in the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar. They pioneered this process over many decades and were all too happy to share their stories and how the magic is made. Due to the bottles being suspended in the constantly moving waters, the wine undergoes a micro fermentation process which completely transforms the finished product into something one-of-a-kind.

Can’t wait to put this finished segment together! It has it all. Fascinating history, unique craftsmanship, a ton of laughs, and even pods of dolphin circling us the whole day. taken in Estepona by @lelandsandberg

So excited for our Marbella, Spain episode of Passport Properties. I fall more in love with the southern coast of Spain every time I return.

We made a visit to La Zagaleta to feature this masterpiece of a villa, designed by @ark.architects. It is truly a masterclass of blending modern design, materials, textures and layout in a way that harmoniously compliments the stunning landscape around it. This one-of-a-kind property is truly a 10/10 from frame to finishes.

The last time we visited La Zagaleta, we were honored to be the first external production team to be permitted to film a show inside this exclusive community. This time we became the first external team to fly a drone over this world-class enclave.

Aisha, an Amazigh weaver in the Ourika Valley. It’s been an honor, and a laugh-filled pleasure, to meet and film with her on two separate occasions while shooting Passport Properties.

Morocco is a land of strong yet harmonious contrasts. On one hand you have a land, people, and way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries. On the other you have all the modern vibrant development of any major city around the world. The one constant is the people. Getting ready to embark on a nearly 4-month journey filming in 7 different countries… it still feels surreal. When we started this project almost five years ago, I never could’ve imagined the incredible places it would take us.

Passport Properties isn’t just another TV show — it’s an invitation to dream, wonder and explore. It’s our love letter to the world’s most extraordinary destinations and what it’s like to truly live there. A kaleidoscope of breathtaking properties, vibrant cultures, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, unforgettable characters, and a window into faraway lands.
