Grappling Industries Brooklyn 8/8/26-
First time EVER competing against a black belt. I also competed 30-45lbs up in weight and only did No Gi! Didn't take home the win but I held my own against bigger and more advanced opponents. If there's anything I took away from today, it's how proud I am of @notkreekree . I adopted Kree a few months ago and have been converting her to train in a Gi 😂 Today was her first competition and she listened to my coaching and took home her first win! I am honestly more proud of her today than I am of my own performance. Shoutout to @atlasjiujitsu and @calestinejiujitsu . On to the next one (and hopefully with opponents that are my size). by @lemonjiujitsu

I've started to realize that the truest version of who we are exists in our childhood.

We loved hard and played even harder.

We didn't worry about what others thought when we talked about our favorite things. We wore the light-up sneakers and carried the lunchbox with our favorite cartoon characters on it. We rode our bikes until the streetlights came on. We somehow made an ordinary day feel like the greatest adventure.

Somewhere along the way, we started caring more about fitting in than standing out. We traded curiosity for comparison and play for productivity.

Maybe growing up isn't about becoming someone new.

Maybe it's about remembering the parts of ourselves that existed before we learned to hide them.

I wish more adults would honor the kid that's still inside them. The one who was curious, unapologetically excited, and found joy in the simplest things.

Maybe that's what happiness really is—not becoming someone else, but giving that part of ourselves permission to come back out. by @lemonjiujitsu
