I used to fear moments like this. Sounds silly, but it’s true.

Not because I was afraid of taking my son out, but because I was afraid he wouldn’t enjoy it.

Quality time is one of my biggest priorities as a father. And in my head, spending that time on something he had no interest in felt like wasting it. So I played it safe. I chose indoors.

But here’s what fatherhood keeps teaching me. My son doesn’t arrive with interests fully formed. He finds interest in whatever I’m interested in. He’s watching me to learn what’s worth being curious about.

So the best thing I can do for him at this age isn’t to protect our time, it’s to spend it exploring. New environments. New adventures.

I didn’t need to fear whether he’d enjoy it. Because as his dad, I don’t just get to witness his interests. I get to help build them.

Proverbs 22:6 says “train up a child in the way he should go”

The first 6 months of this year almost broke me. Then my son was born…..

Family, work, business, mental health. it all felt like it was consuming me all at once and I couldn’t get anything in order. Then Ezekiel arrived. I thought a second child would add to the chaos. Instead, it felt like time paused. long enough for me and my wife to sit down and actually talk; about our family, our goals, what I want from my career, and why I even post and build online in the first place.

So for her 26th birthday, we went back to the park where we had our very first picnic while dating. Same spot. Same intention. A trip down memory lane. Remembering what built us, so we could recreate it in the season we’re in now.

Truth is sometimes you don’t need something new. You just need to go back to where it started and build forward from there.

It’s been 12 years since you came into my life and changed it for the better.

12 years of showing me what love truly means. Through the good times, the bad times, the highs and the lows.

You’ve loved me through my flaws, my traumas, and every up and down. You’ve taught me how to grow, improve, and become a better man, and for that, I’ll forever be grateful.
