peace and love to you all!! it's all we can do to keep our humanity, our softness, our ability to hope and to love -- to love through action and decision, to love beyond feeling, as a recognition of the immutable value of every individual.

THE LAST RITES OF BLAISE PASCAL •
.
finally printed this after carving it 1 year ago oopsies
.
I love this man so much!! he was an enlightenment philosopher, mathematician, scientist, he invented a calculator at 19 and wrote a 60 page document (the pdf of which I read) explaining getting a crush from the lens of logic. but he also had a wild mystic experience (see slide 3), pushed back against the idea that logic is supreme, and rejected the Deist idea of a God who is a mechanistic creator with no heart. we are more than our minds, we are souls and hearts!!

.
as always, I MADE A TON of prints LEMME KNOW if you want one!

the transfiguration •
.
heard a cool sermon today :)
.
Jesus takes a few of his friends aside to come up into the mountains with him, and is transformed into glory and light. They see him revealing his divine identity and are overwhelmed and fall onto the ground. Jesus comes and touches them and says, "do not be afraid".
.
This transcendent and tender moment came as Jesus began talking about his coming death and walking the road to Jerusalem, to the cross. This moment is not an escape, not answers but presence as they approach suffering and grief. We cannot understand God, but we can sit in awe of his glory and love. As he is transfigured, so we can be transfigured, renewed, resurrected, transformed. :D

sundering •
.
was feeling sleepy and tired so wrote a poem this morning about wanting to rot, in a really soggy woodland, like a bog body :)
.
humus - the organic portion of soil
lentic - stagnant water
limnetic - part of a lake
polypody - a type of fern that grows on trees
staghorn/oakmoss - a type of lichen
leaching - a type of decay where soluble matter is washed away into the soil
meniscus - the edge of a water body
.
(science is infecting me)

doodle dump •
.
some miscellaneous art from my travels and subsequent inevitable time of lurgy ... a mural, a copy of some 17th century Asian Christian tapestry, tree and landscape drawings out the window, a furry (couldn't resist), and a wee bunny (carved by lucia!). also my hands which are now unfortunately just orange blobs (rip my pale skin everything shows up).
.
the mural was so fun!! 🌟 me and a friend painted it over a few days -- it is the parable of the mustard seed:
.
"He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” (Matt 13:31-32)

ithilien •
.
some recent ish poster designs :D I digitised my faramir (<3333) drawing from a while back and turned it into a mock botanical poster -- these are all real plants, which are also mentioned by Tolkien as being in the aromatic lands of Ithilien ... where faramir is first introduced (my favourite sad lad)
.
then we have my invert poster (I accidentally inhaled pond water during my field course when sucking up larvae in a pooter)
(yes a pooter is a real piece of equipment where you suck on one end of a straw to suck up bugs on the other end)
(yes there is a filter to stop you inhaling bugs)
(but yes it is not fine enough to stop you consuming aphids) (or pond water)

💧 It’s #DamRemovalDay — and we’re celebrating the power of free-flowing rivers!

Across the South East, we’ve been working to remove barriers and restore fish passage — reconnecting rivers like the Darent and Wandle so wildlife can move freely once again. 🌿

Every weir removed means new life for rivers, from migratory eels to spawning trout.

🎥 Watch this beautiful animation by @lemur.katta to see how opening up rivers helps species like the critically endangered European eel.

this is about Jesus as FRIEND. this is about a Jesus whose love is not diminished or domesticated or overexaggerated in saying the presence of God is nothing more or less than a meal together in a home. Jesus whose love is not utilitarian but who, like a friend, enjoys simply existing in your presence. get him a cup of tea 👍
.
eating together is a massive image in the bible!! it is a sacrament and a vision of paradise and presence
.
"And He took the bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Luke 22:19
.
I made this lino cut about a year ago when I was feeling (understandably) quite lonely ~ I only just printed it and have since found so many wonderful friends and bread breakers 🫶 so here's to that
.
.
I have a load of prints so if anyone would like one pls let me know!! :) I would love to give some out!!
