I sneaked a clip from @matildathemann and turned it into a mixedmedia animation 🦋 (portfolio edit)

My recent animations have been more and more about incorporating not only paper elements but also playing with other media such as fabrics, trying not to use them only as another 2D element to add to the picture, but really making use of their textures, of the fact that denim or any other fabric can add beautiful depth to otherwise rather flat settings. They can add a shiny texture, a "used look", motion, some embroidery on denim or some specially shaped cut-outs.

For this project, I wanted to give the main stage to a flower frame that I created out of denim, with leaves that can open and close and move the way they want :)

Blending and printing and drawing and repeat. Honestly the effect is just wow. Especially on coloured paper 🩵

this animation consists of 9 frames. Each frame is basically one sheet of blue Din A4 paper, where I printed and layered two black and white photos, combining them with crayon drawings and creating the wave shapes by covering certain areas during the printing process and leaving others exposed. Love the analog blending effect this creates!

After a month of summer break in Italy, I wanted a fresh start and a more organized mind and studio space. The weeks before my holiday had been all about finishing and wrapping up projects somehow still in time, so I still had this huge pile of paper on my desk that I wanted to tackle before starting a new project. Archiving the projects is one thing, but the best part is definitely creating a double page in my project book for each individual project. it’s like a proper project closure and also something to flip through whenever I feel lost or uninspired. 🌝
