Meet the founders of thyr. Three artists. Three unique journeys. One shared vision. Swipe to get to know each founder and discover the experiences that shape thyr. Lena Reyle is a German dancer, choreographer, and dance educator based in Berlin. She trained in classical ballet and modern dance and received her diploma in dance pedagogy at the Balletschool Ronecker in Stuttgart, studied the Cunningham technique at the Merce Cunningham Studio in New York, and completed the advanced training program about choreographic knowledge and dance at SENECA INTENSIV Berlin. The last 4 years she was artistic director of DANCEWORKS berlin, a vocational school for contemporary dance in Berlin. Lena has performed and presented her choreographic work internationally, with projects in Berlin, Stuttgart, Paris, Baden-Baden, and São Paulo. Beatriz Moreno is a professional contemporary dancer based in Berlin. With a classical ballet background starting at the age of two in Bahia, Brazil, she has trained in many dance styles throughout her life, including jazz, tap, street dance, modern, and, with a bigger focus, contemporary. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance ballet training method, did a semester of the BA in dance at Roehampton University in London, and graduated from the 3 year education program at Danceworks Berlin as a contemporary dancer and performer. Along her artistic journey, Beatriz has been part of many productions, and performed in several locations in Berlin and Brazil. Raissa Mamede is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and teacher from Barra Bonita, São Paulo. She began dancing at an early age, training in Classical Ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance, while also specializing in tap, jazz, urban styles, and contemporary dance. After graduating from DANCEWORKS berlin’s Professional Dance Education Program, she also teaches dance while continuing to create, perform, and share her passion for movement on and off the stage. taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @lenareyle

Four years of passion, precision, and performance. When we took over the artistic direction of DANCEWORKS berlin, we had a clear vision: to create a space where technical excellence and performance seamlessly intertwine. Today, looking back at these moments, we can proudly say that we transformed that vision into a vibrant reality. We are incredibly proud of the network we’ve built and the milestones we reached together: From inspiring collaborations with theatres like Uferstudios, ACUD, Säälchen, Theaterforum Kreuzberg, Zimmer 16... to the best exchange with the technicians of the Komische Oper Berlin... Meaningful local initiatives with partners like the Bürgerpark Verein, bringing dance into the nature of the city or being a partner of Tanz Mit! festival at Potsdamer Platz... Strengthening our international profile through Erasmus+ exchange programs, hosting students from across Europe, and building bridges with dance schools both in Germany and abroad (Denmark, Sweden, Portugal...) Expanding the curriculum with innovative new subjects and welcoming renowned guest choreographers from every corner of the globe to inspire our dancers. Our special creative exchange with Brazil and our presence at major industry events like the Danceworld Fair Stuttgart. While our journey here is coming to an unexpected end, our pride in what we’ve built remains untouched. We leave behind a school that is more connected, diverse, and artistically robust than ever before.
