New Jersey just made history for APRNs.Governor Mikie Sherrill signed S2996 into law on March 30, 2026, granting full practice authority to Advanced Practice Nurses in the state. No more joint protocols. No more collaborative agreements required. APRNs in New Jersey can now independently diagnose, treat, and prescribe within their scope of practice.But if you are in the aesthetics space, read carefully.This law does not apply to med spas. Aesthetic procedures fall outside the primary care and behavioral health focus of S2996. Physician oversight, proper patient exams, and medical director requirements remain exactly where they were for NJ aesthetic practices.Big win for APRNs. California just sent a $4.5 million message to every MSO and friendly PC in the country.The California AG settled with Carbon Health Technologies after finding that the company's MSO had crossed the line from administrative support into clinical control. The co-founder was personally fined $100,000 on top of that.MSO structures are not illegal. Non-compliant ones are.Regulators are no longer just reviewing your contracts. If you prescribe peptides or recommend them to your patients, the next two weeks matter more than most people realize.In late June 2026, FDA staff reviewers released scientific reports on seven of the most popular wellness peptides including BPC-157, TB-500, Semax, and Epitalon. The findings raise serious concerns about safety, labeling inconsistencies, and a near-total absence of human clinical trial data behind most of the claims being made online.On July 23 and 24, 2026, the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee will vote on whether these compounds can remain available through compounding pharmacies. Florida med spas, this one is important. The Florida Board of Nursing has made it clear. When a registered nurse administers aesthetic injections, a licensed physician must be physically present and visually observing the injection. Not available by phone. Not in the next room. In the room.Most med spas in Florida are not operating this way.
