Six years of my childhood were spent in a village in Kumba, Cameroon.

Nobody around me was short on talent. What they didn't have was proximity. No rooms, no introductions, none of the small breaks that turn ability into an actual opportunity.

That's not a talent problem. That's an access problem.

So when Nana Agyapong and I co-founded Investate in November 2024, the plan was never advice. It was infrastructure: events, mentorship, and a community built to hand out the access we never had.

There's a conversation I still have with myself before every new season.

Doubt goes first: nobody builds something from nothing without proof it will work.

Faith answers back: you were never asked for proof, only obedience.

They sell apprenticeships as the way in. For a lot of people it’s cheap labour with a government subsidy attached.

The company gets the funding, gets the output, and the apprentice gets a job title that goes nowhere.
