A little love for our little town. 🤩

When wildfires scorch our landscape, they also reveal LA’s capacity for rebirth. We find ourselves floating in the in-between—honoring what was, standing in what is, imagining what will be… To our neighbors in the fire zones: your community holds you in its heart. We are so very resilient and kinda trauma-bonded, rising and rebuilding anew, together. 🙏🏼♥️💕

Hearts are heavy, smoke is thick, evacuations continue, and ash is falling from the sky yet hope reigns supreme as exhibited by our iconic Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel’s spinning message of light. I didn’t capture the LAFD bit, but it’s an essential part of the message acknowledging our and all the fire departments exhaustive service.

LA history is being written with a new very sad chapter, and we’re really only at the beginning of it. Still, the bright spot, aside from carnival ride signage, is the outpouring of kindness, generosity, support, and creative contributions happening all around us.

This guy, Luca, who runs the @ilpizzicagnolodibartoccioni in Città della Pieve, the next biggish town over, is renowned for his sandwiches. We finally went after multiple recommendations last spring.

Well some fancy people love him and a couple weeks ago this was written up in the @latimesfood as perhaps the best sandwich maker in Italy. He’s been told if he had a place in LA there would be lines around the cbock. And those tellers aren’t wrong. For now. he’s just expanding to Perugia.

We were lucky enough to be around when he had Porchetta with caramelized onion. It was so much more delicious than I even expected. Perfect in every way, thinly sliced and crispy yet soft light bread, the sweet onions, all perfectly juicy. Just all of it.

Also, he literally whistles while he works in his tiny little shop, and is so lovely and jolly. I love hearing him tell customers who are unsure, “I decide.” He surely never steers them wrong. taken in Città della Pieve by @lenorep

We’re back!🇮🇹 I love arriving in Rome in the morning. It’s a loooong day made clunky by jet lag but a little spin in the city turns it into a treat.

London inspired me to make a little movie about my time there. What a fantastic city, which I haven’t seen in 34 years. ♥️🇬🇧
