The heart-wrenching yet beautiful tale of the 2026 blockbuster Tamil movie “Hi” revolves around Mayilsamy, a down-to-earth and hard-working man who has faced nothing but constant rejections in his quest for love and marriage. Just as he feels like giving up on his dreams of finding a life partner, fate unexpectedly introduces him to Devayani, an unconventional and fiercely independent woman who lives right in the same apartment building as a fellow tenant. While Mayil instantly feels a magical spark and a deep connection, his initial attempts to win her over result in another crushing rejection because Devayani values her freedom and refuses to conform to traditional societal rules or typical family expectations.
However, life takes an unpredictable and wild turn when Devayani is suddenly forced into an arranged marriage with a boorish man whose family holds enormous financial leverage over her struggling father, Indhiran. In a desperate, impulsive bid to save her from this miserable trap, Mayilsamy stands up to the groom’s aggressive family and boldly lies that Devayani is actually pregnant with his child. To make this outrageous stunt believable to his ecstatic mother, Parimala, who is thrilled at the prospect of a grandchild, Mayil quickly invents a fake, long-distance lover named Shakira from Rawalpindi. This hilarious and chaotic lie successfully secures a strict three-month window to postpone the wedding, which is exactly the time Mayil needs to turn this chaotic setup into a genuine romance. What starts as a series of simple, everyday “Hi” greetings and awkward next-door interactions slowly transforms into a deeply meaningful bond built on mutual trust, emotional healing, and a sense of home. As the web of comical lies expands, Devayani finds herself unexpectedly touched by Mayil’s relentless persistence, pure heart, and unwavering support during her darkest hours.

Race Gurram (2014) - Directed by Surender Reddy, this Telugu action-comedy stars Allu Arjun as Allu Lakshman Prasad, popularly known as Lucky, and Shruti Haasan as Spandana. Shaam, Ravi Kishan, Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam also played important roles. The film was released on April 11, 2014, and became Allu Arjun’s first film to cross the 7100 crore mark.
The story revolves around two brothers, Lucky and Ram, who have completely different personalities.
While Ram is a disciplined police officer who strictly follows rules, Lucky is carefree and believes in solving problems in his own unconventional way. Their contrasting personalities become the main source of both the film’s conflict and comedy.
Interestingly, Race Gurram marked the first collaboration between Allu Arjun and music composer
S. Thaman. The soundtrack contained six songs, including “Cinema Choopistha Mava,” “Down Down” and “Sweety.” “Sweety” also marked Siddharth Mahadevan’s Telugu playback debut and featured Malaysian rapper Rabbit Mac.
The film was shot on a large scale, with principal photography beginning in Hyderabad in May 2013 and wrapping up in February 2014. Some of the songs were filmed at international locations, including Milan, Italy, while the movie’s stylish visuals were handled by cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa.
Brahmanandam’s character, Kill Bill Pandey, became one of the film’s biggest comedy highlights. His scenes with Prakash Raj, who played Beem Prakash, added a separate comedy track to the otherwise action-oriented story. Allu Arjun’s dance, comedy timing and stylish performance became major talking points after the film’s release.
Race Gurram went on to become one of the major Telugu commercial successes of 2014 and earned Allu Arjun his first $100 crore-grossing film. The combination of Allu Arjun’s energetic performance, Surender Reddy’s stylish direction, Thaman’s music and Brahmanandam’s comedy gave the film a lasting place among Telugu commercial entertainers.
