Beauty is not only what catches the eye, but what makes us stop and wonder.

This is Unilever House, on Victoria Embankment beside Blackfriars Bridge. Built in 1930–32, it was designed in a monumental stripped classical style, combining the elegance of classical architecture with the modern spirit of the 1930s. Its enormous Ionic columns and Portland stone façade follow the curve of the Embankment, creating this almost theatrical presence beside the Thames.

Today, it remains associated with Unilever and is a Grade II listed building, recognised for its architectural and historic importance.

Perhaps that is one of the meanings of beauty: when human imagination turns stone, proportion and light into something that makes us look up. ✨ taken in London, United Kingdom by @leocorttez

A hidden myth in the heart of London. 🪽

Walking near Southwark Bridge, I came across this beautiful façade, and at first I simply admired its elegance. But then I noticed the sculpture above the entrance: Pegasus, the winged horse, being restrained by two human figures.

Pegasus has always been associated with inspiration, imagination and the poetic power of the soul. Here, however, his wild movement is being guided and contained.

Perhaps there is a beautiful lesson in that image:

Imagination needs freedom, but also direction.

A dream without direction can remain only a dream. But when imagination is guided by wisdom, it can become art, knowledge and creation.

London sometimes feels like this to me — a city where myths are still quietly speaking from the walls, waiting for someone to stop and listen. ✨
