This is one for the books.
The Palauan Fruit bat soup shocks mostly due to the grueling image of a whole bat on your plate.
Tastewise I can’t even say that it was bad. But the texture of the meat is chewy and boney and just doesn’t make for a pleasant eating sensation.
So yeah… 10/10 experience 🔥 taken in Palau by @leon.guidebook

This Pacific Island has a lot to offer! The traditional ceremonial houses (Bai) in Palau were used for important tribe meetings. The one I‘m standing in front of tells the myth of the creation of Palau:
A deity called Chuab was born and fed by the villagers. Soon she grew so tall that the people needed giant ladders to reach her mouth to keep feeding her. When her hunger became too much to shoulder, the villagers piled wood at her feet to burn her. As her body fell it built the islands of Palau.

The tropical island is also home to the smallest capital in the world: Ngerulmud. With a permanent population of 0 the parliament is the only building in the capital and is heavily inspired by the White House in Washington.

After exploring it‘s jungles, World War II sites and capitals you might want to head to town for some magnificent sea food.
