The Dead Breakfast exhibition is hung, has opened and there are gallery hours Friday and Saturday noon-6pm at ICOSA. This Saturday, join Cloud Tree for the opening reception of "Paranoid Visions" by Leon Alesi & John Mulvany!

Borrowing its title from a 1980/1990’s Irish punk band, the exhibition features paintings, photographs, mixed-media collages, and at its center a deer blind constructed inside the gallery, its exterior clad in distressed domestic wallpaper — a collision of hunting culture, media consumption, and the architecture of fear.

Simultaneously a shelter and surveillance post, the deer blind has historically served as a structure of concealment and controlled vision. Paranoid Visions relocates this logic from the landscape into the home, arguing that the American living room has become its own kind of blind — a site of waiting, watching, and target acquisition mediated by cable news, algorithmic feeds and the ambient dread of the contemporary information landscape. The inside is projected outward as fear has moved into our domestic spaces.

"Paranoid Visions" asks what it costs to live inside this structure — and whether, from within it, the outside world can be seen at all.

Semicentennial Breakdown: Window Dressing at 50
 Last night was packed! Celebrating 50 Window Dressing exhibitions at @icosa_art , this show marks how a small storefront experiment has become a creative playground for artists working with limitation, visibility and process.

Curated by @leonalesi and @rebholzjones , the exhibition brings together 21 artists from the project’s history, spanning painting, photography, installation, sculpture, textiles, video and more. The opening was activated by a performance from Diana Sexton @leviathansweaters

The ICOSA Window Dressing Project celebrates its 50th exhibition with a curated selection of 21 artists that have participated in the exhibition series since its inception in the Summer of 2019. Window Dressing was originally established as an experimental endeavor to make use of ICOSA’s storefront window during the installation/deinstallation cycle of the main gallery. As the Project evolved, it became a platform for emerging, local, and underrepresented artists to engage with the 11’x4’x10’ window space for one-week exhibitions that explored the possibilities of limitation.

Curated by Leon Alesi and Matt Rebholz, Semicentennial Breakdown invites conversation within a group of artists with diverse approaches and philosophies who utilize a wide range of media including painting, photography, installation, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, beadwork, textiles, video, and pyrography.
