On Friday, October 16, Leon County Schools will turn pink as students, teachers, administrators, and staff across the district come together to honor cancer fighters, celebrate survivors, and remember those we have lost.

LCS Go Pink Day is more than an opportunity to wear a color. It's a chance to show our school community that no one faces cancer alone.

To those who have battled cancer and emerged on the other side, your strength is an inspiration, your resilience is remarkable, and your story is a reminder that hope is powerful.

To those who are currently navigating a diagnosis, undergoing treatment, or facing an uncertain road ahead, we see your courage, we stand beside you, and we are cheering you on every step of the way. Some days are harder than others, and strength doesn't always mean having a smile on your face. Sometimes, simply showing up is an incredible victory.

And to the families, friends, caregivers, and medical professionals who provide unwavering support, we recognize the important role you play in every cancer journey.

This Friday, we encourage everyone across Leon County Schools to wear pink with purpose. Wear it for a survivor. Wear it for someone still fighting. Wear it in memory of someone you love.

Because behind every pink shirt is a story, a person, and a reminder that even the smallest gestures can make someone feel a little less alone. by @leoncountyschools

Following multiple weather briefings with the Leon County Emergency Management team regarding Hurricane Isaias, Leon County Schools will follow an early release schedule on Friday, October 9. This decision prioritizes the safety of our students, families and staff.

Students will be dismissed at the following times:

High School: 11:20 a.m.
Elementary School: 12:20 p.m.
Middle School: 1:20 p.m.

All afterschool activities are cancelled, including afterschool care programs such as 21st Century and Extended Day. Please make arrangements for your childโ€™s transportation and care based on these earlier dismissal times.

District offices and school campuses will close at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.

We will continue monitoring conditions with our emergency management partners and notify families of any additional changes.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we work to keep our school community safe. by @leoncountyschools

What happens when middle school students find out theyโ€™re going to have a ๐—ฆ๐—จ๐—•๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—œ๐—ง๐—จ๐—ง๐—˜ ๐—ง๐—˜๐—”๐—–๐—›๐—˜๐—ฅ ๐—™๐—ข๐—ฅ ๐—ง๐—›๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—˜ ๐— ๐—ข๐—ก๐—ง๐—›๐—ฆ ?

Well, Ms. Ziadi at #CobbMiddleSchool wanted to make sure her class stayed on track. Before leaving on maternity leave, she spent several months preparing materials for her students, including video and audio lessons, and left permanent substitute Ms. Little with an organized roadmap designed to keep students moving forward.

And they did.

When Ms. Ziadi was recognized this week for what her students accomplished, she made sure everyone knew she didnโ€™t do it alone. And she was especially grateful for Ms. Little.

While Ms. Ziadiโ€™s newborn son watched from the audience, there was another son watching too. Ms. Littleโ€™s son was there, proudly recording his mom as she was recognized for the important role she played.

Ms. Ziadi summed it up this way: โž by @leoncountyschools
