This week, we had to say goodbye to our much-loved Omama 🤍
She passed away at the age of 105, surrounded by her family in Munich.

Having Omama in our lives for so long is something I’ll never take for granted. She lived her life to the fullest. She survived the war, rebuilt her life, traveled the world, and always had her camera by her side. She received her first camera on Easter when she was just 10 years old, and from that moment on, photography became part of her soul. Since 1930, she created her first photo album and continued year after year. She took over 100,000 pictures in her lifetime.
I can still remember how excited I was whenever a new red photo album appeared in the living room in Fuschl. One by one, each family member would sit down look through them smiling, laughing and completely fascinated by where Omama had been when we hadn’t seen her for a while, discovering new faces and memories she had so beautifully and authentically captured.
She didn’t just take pictures .. she told stories.
She brought people together, through her lens, her presence and especially her love. Because of her, my father met and fell in love with my mother. She was really the heart of it all .. always bringing us closer together.
But above all, Omama’s greatest love was always her family. She leaves behind an incredible legacy!
5 children, 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. I’m so grateful to be one of her grandchildren.
She was always proud of me ever since I told her, at a young age, that I wanted to become an actress.
She celebrated every little step I took and was my number one cheerleader. Just a few months ago, I told her about my first big film project and her face lit up and said „Schaaaaaaatzi!!“
Last week, she told me she couldn’t wait to see me on the big screen next year. We laughed and said we’d find a way to get her into the cinema at 106 years old and trust me…. I would have made that happen!!! 💪🏻
Now I know: she will be with me every step of the way.
Her love, her strength, her elegance they live on in all of us.
