One of my favorite sight fished browns from NZ. Not for the size, but the eat was insane. Watching this fish (amongst others) cruise around and eat on top taught me so much about trout behavior in just 30 minutes. taken in New Zealand by @leos_flicks

Chunky 2 footer. I sight fished this guy from the hill behind me. First cast and he took the flashback PT. Such a strong fish, but up a great fight on 5x.

Searching for sulphurs ended with a good day with the guys! Some afternoon thunderstorms messed up our evening dry fly plan, but we made it work.

Some great days of blind fishing late into the NZ season. Both of these fish were past the 2 foot mark and made for a great day in the water. Total opposites in color too!

Cicada day on a small stream. First slide is a 6.5lb brown that was eating everything in its sight. This fish swayed back and forth for a solid 10 minutes before I laid a cast down. First cast and he ate! The other 2 fish in the last slides were caught in the fast water blind fishing.

~iPhone pic~ It’s been a bit since I posted a big fish I caught. There’s too many pictures to choose from and posting hasn’t been a priority; focusing on getting content! Here’s some quick pics from the other day fishing with @thing_of_the_jungle Checking out new water is always worth it, especially if it means 5.5 pounders!

Getting a Birds Eye view over these small jungle streams shows a whole new perspective! The second slide is a nice two footer that @julian.timm_ sight fished in a tailout.

More backcountry cicada action! Missing the warmer weather right now as we slowly slide into fall here in NZ. Still, there’s some great fishing to be had, but I think wet washing season is past us… Side note, I think the first pic is epic, so happy with how it came out!

~ Cicada Season ~ Cicadas are arguably one of the most fun ways to fish for these big New Zealand brown trout. Fishing them in big slow pools while moving them across brought some amazing fish up from the depths!

After the first few fish we snipped off the dropper nymphs and fished single cicadas all day with around 12 fish in the net. The 4 mile hike in was worth it!
