Healthy living asks you to keep making decisions while your life keeps changing.

Your time, appetite, energy and responsibilities will shift. A useful routine gives you a way to adjust and return.

These ten practices are a starting framework, not a ranking or a ten-item daily checklist. Pick the one that solves a real problem in your week.

If dinner falls apart when you’re tired, choose a fallback meal before choosing a stricter diet. Beans, rice, frozen vegetables and olive oil can be a meal you return to. Adapt it to your tastes, budget and needs.

Learn to see food in several ways at once: energy for living, building material for recovery, a source of nutrients, and something you enjoy with people. Calories describe energy; they don’t describe the whole value of a meal. Portions still matter. So do variety, satisfaction and whether the plan is practical enough to repeat.

Let exercise build ability. Choose movement you can do now, then gradually ask a little more of yourself. Recovery belongs in that process.

For adults, WHO recommends working toward 150–300 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week, or the vigorous equivalent, plus strength work on at least two days. Moderate effort means you can talk but not sing. Some movement is better than none; the weekly target isn’t an entry requirement. Adapt the activity to your ability and health.

Try this sentence:
“When ______ happens, my manageable next step is ______.”

Example: “When I miss my workout, my next step is a short walk and returning to my next planned session.”

Save this for a difficult week. Choose one practice to begin.

For years, I worked out without giving the same attention to what I ate. I was putting in effort, but leaving a big part of the picture to memory.

Tracking my food gave me something specific to learn from: what I ate, how much, and how that fit alongside my training.

The act of writing it down matters to me. It’s a moment to pause, recognize a choice, and think about the next one. Over time, those entries become a record I can return to.

That’s why I’m building Leptir—and using it myself while I keep learning.

This carousel covers what I wish I’d understood earlier: how food and training work together, what to record, and what protein, carbs and fat contribute.

At your next meal, try identifying the protein source and writing down what you had. Include what you’re unsure about. You have something to learn from even before you have perfect numbers.

Save this for your next meal. If you’re starting your journey and could use some guidance or encouragement, reach out. Fitness feels better when you have other people in the fight with you.

Food and training work together. There’s no universal 80/20 split. Your weight, strength and health are different outcomes, and each deserves attention.

Make your next meal your starting point. Write down what you had, roughly how much, and anything you’re unsure about. You can add details as you learn.

Start by finding the protein. Then notice the carbs and fats alongside it. Learning what’s in familiar meals makes nutrition easier to understand.

Give your training the support it needs. Protein provides building blocks, carbs help fuel the work, and fats support essential functions. The protein range here uses total body weight—not body fat. by @leptir.io
