Even before having a word for it, Hairpins has been building safe and abundant FLINTA spaces across Arkansas and other Southern/Midwestern areas of the United States 🏳️‍🌈💜🏳️‍⚧️

What an brilliant experience to learn more about the acronym—which stands for Frauen, Lesbian, Intersex, Nonbinary, Trans, Agender—its origins in Germany, and the sublime group of queer individuals that make up the FLINTA community at this months Sapphic Cinema program in Little Rock through the @lesbianbarproject’s 2024 documentary short: FLINTA.

Our audience at @calsronrobinsontheater was extra excited to hear from one of the film’s directors, Erica Rose (@ear360), in a ✨lively (and a bit chaotic)✨ and engaging conversation with Dropping Hairpins Project executive director Viktoria Capek (@viktoriaacapek) focusing on the importance of inclusive language, why FLINTA spaces are so alluring to the queer community, where to find more FLINTA third spaces, and how the future of these spaces are changing worldwide.

Special thanks to both halves of LBP (including @elinastreet) for partnering with us to bring this story and movement to Arkansas, to @calibrarysystem for allowing us to unapologetically take up space, and everyone who joined us for Sapphic Cinema!

Arkansas: Sapphic Cinema returns THIS AUGUST! 🎥🍿 
We’re incredibly excited to feature THE LESBIAN BAR PROJECT: FLINTA, an award-winning documentary directed by Erica Rose and Elina Street (@lesbianbarproject). 
THE LESBIAN BAR PROJECT: FLINTA documents the vibrant FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-Binary, Trans, and Agender) communities of Cologne and Berlin, exploring how queer spaces continue to evolve even as traditional lesbian bars disappear. Through the stories of bar owners, activists, artists, and organizers, the film gives us a powerful look at where queer community may be headed in Germany and around the world. 
Following the screening, New-York based director Erica Rose (@ear360) will join us live for a conversation about the film, the global Lesbian Bar Project, and the importance of creating and preserving spaces for our communities. 
Join us at Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock (@calsronrobinsontheater) on Thursday, August 20. Doors open at 6:00 PM, film begins: 7:00 PM. Q&A with Erica Rose immediately following the screening 🎤
