I met David 25 years ago and he forever stole a piece of my heart. I’m thankful I possessed the wisdom at that age to realize he had certain gifts I didn’t. He impressed me. I wanted to protect him from the moment I met him and I was on a mission to make him love me. Surprising him with KVIL swag got me in for life. KVIL was his favorite subject. I never knew the impact he would have on my life. No matter what was going on in my life I could always count on him being ecstatic to see me. Those weren’t easy times either. As long as we were at the same school he would wait on me every single day to yell “my love dog Leslie” and give me a big hug. I took the long way to class my freshman year because I depended on him to be the best part of my day a lot of the time. Fast forward to having Asher get diagnosed. David was the first person I thought of. I never stopped thinking about him over the years. We had lost touch but I found him about 9 years ago. Knowing what this guy means to me comforts me to this day when it comes to what’s ahead. It may have started out like I was giving him some but what I got in return was so much more. Shout out to Steve for the random run in too. He’s another extremely special human I grew up with. Loved hearing how close him and David were. No surprise. Steve has always had a heart of gold and been a good friend. Today was the best! My heart is so full. ❤️ Asher’s in the same grade I was in when I met David. I hope someone take to him the way we did David. by @lesgentz

Happy 14th Birthday to Asher! I think it’s time he sleeps in his own bed but I’m certain I would be scared without him at this point. Here’s to the kid that just needs a balloon to be happy. Here’s to the kid that gets shy and giggles when you call him beautiful. Here’s to the little boy that can’t verbalize love but shows it every day!

No one has ever helped me grow more as a human or taught me about unconditional love the way he has. He’ll always be the greatest gift of my life and even more so when it’s difficult. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ He deserves it all. He’s my angle on earth. Love him so much! Such a big boy! by @lesgentz

Here’s Johnny. I’m missing the good times. I remembered some of our last talks today. I remember the things you wanted for my life. I remember the things you wanted me to let go of and the things you wanted me to hold closer. I wish things would have been different and I know you did too.
