i’m pretty confident when i say that im not very familiar with grief. you can lose things all the time and it not be something of monumental effect, like earrings or a phone charger. you usually just replace them and you forget about it after. that’s not how im feeling when it comes to my beloved grandparents. it is becoming a stark, harsh. realization that i now no longer am able to reach either of them, or at least immediately within my reach. it has been this way for a while, which is funny that the process has only just now begun, if even. i am truly, deeply struggling with the change of losing people that so strongly carved and shaped my personality, they are not immediately here to witness my growth and see how much of an important role they play in my life. it sounds extremely selfish, im disappointed in that of myself, but i just cannot help kick these feelings, i can only start to try to flip perspective. the self reflection of where to start the process is so unfamiliar it brings along an avoidance to starting it, an intolerance even to try to get through it. i continue to try to tell myself it is all well worth it in due time. my dear grandaddy, never do i believe i will meet another man so humble, patient, generous, and kind. the kind of man who says thank you to a kiss on the cheek is one to cherish forever. as your sweetheart, i will continue to make you proud and seek out that same provider, protector worthy of my care, inheriting a kindness like yours amazes me to this day seeing how much of our heart it takes up when expressing it to those around us. my lovely grandmother, the note i wrote to you and laid in your hands almost a year. ago. contains everything in it that i need to say, but i will say living a life like the one you had really allows one to see the strength and persistence that it takes to do so. the mind is a powerful place, and has very influential affects on the body, as we both know. i felt i could resonate so well with you on this, and never failed to understand any of your “why’s.” i will continue to see parts of you both in me whether it be body or soul. please keep signing you are with me and i will see, always. by @lesleyanneee
