Thanks to my family for visiting my newest wings.🥰🤗

Silken Soulmates, acrylic (#190 & 191). Inspired by two Luna moths who visited our home. Lunas’ sole purpose in their short lifespan is to mate. They literally live for love.💜💚😌

To support these ethereal beauties … plant trees such as walnut, hickory and sweet gum for their caterpillars to munch.🐛🐛🍃🪾

Little garden friend visited again.🦋🌱😌

After sipping nectar from my coneflower she may seek a nettle (her host plant) to lay her eggs upon. Later her hatched caterpillars will munch on the nettle leaves before transforming (pupating) into a chrysalis under a leaf or stem. After a week or two a butterfly will emerge from the chrysalis and fly off seeking nectar sources and eventually a mate to continue the life cycle. How beautiful.

How can you help support the life cycle of butterflies? Plant both nectar flowers and host plants. Go wild for pollinators. Keep your garden or yard a bit messy here and there. Do not use pesticides and chemicals.

Artists … join us for a lovely day (or two) painting outside in Kokomo, IN! Event is free but please preregister to Aaron Pickens at the email listed on the flyer.

Day one will be downtown Kokomo during the vibrant Strawberry Festival. Lots of people and sights to capture via your brush!🎨🍓🍰

Day two will be at scenic Highland Park and artists can relax at Kokomo Art Center and take breaks.🎨🌳🐿️

In addition, there will be an opportunity to participate in a month long exhibition at the Kokomo Art Center. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Aaron Pickens via the email listed on the flyer.
