POSTS STORIES REELS

My judging for the Golden Kite awards continues! Got this ghost story in my haul, which is appropriate, considering the spooky, misty weather we've been having.

Happy misty Halloweeeeeen! I can't even see the treetops outside, and it's cold and damp, perfect weather for fire inside and a spooky read. Check out the pumpkin we carved this year (last two pics in the carousel).

I’m not entirely sure, but Maynard might not like his dragon costume.

Still moving through my Golden Kite Awards judging list, and I saved this for today! It's been really cool seeing all the new releases.

Lake Cushman, camping a few weeks ago. I love a cup of coffee and a fire after sleeping outside all night long. I want to come back here and kayak (the water's so clear).

Link in bio! Check out the Pen Parentis podcast on Spotify to hear L. Marie Woods, Marc Abbott, and me talk about writing horror while also parenting.

If you didn't know, Pen Parentis is an organization that supports writers who are also parents. The hosts M. M. De Voe and Marina Aris led us in conversation why be a part of any writing organization, how to fit the writing into a hectic day, and how your horror might change, or your attitude to writing horror might change, once you have kids. I love these folks. They're a pretty cool organization, so check them out!

I love seeing these webs in the morning after the dew has settled, and the sun has come out.

I get to read THE BONE BRIDES by @marleyroseteter next! Look at that creepy monster dude on the cover. This design puts me in a Halloween mood.

Judging for the SCBWI Golden Kite Awards has been pretty enjoyable so far. Read book. Take notes. Eventually discuss with other judges. I've got until January 2027 to finish the piles of books that have been arriving in my mailbox. I still can't comment on SM or review anything I'm reading, although I get to post the pretty pretty covers like this one.

The nearby forest sends me visitors sometimes, and they're always welcome. Birders, is that a Nuthatch taking a bath in the hose?

I'm hoping to catch an image of the black bear I hear has been roaming around, but so far she's been sneaky.

The next read for the SCBWI Golden Kite awards. The purple in the cover of SOUNDTRACK by @jasonreynolds83 is super cool, and the design is gorgeous. Judging so far has been going well. I read my books at night after the workday is done, and it's a fun analytical exercise to think about each book in terms of the criteria that's been set. I can't comment or review on a book until after January, so I have to restrain myself!

This is my upcoming read as judge for the Golden Kite awards. YOUNG WORLD by @somanc. Love the cover, especially the color, and the upside down capital.
