In a time where it's harder than ever to provide a space for music, arts and gathering in NYC, here are folks who did it right. This Sunday Im honored to be on the roster of folks playing a bit of music each, curated by the one and only Kyp Malone 🩷 Stop by, say hello, donate for future projects and as always, tip your bartenders. by @leslieamstein

SOUND AND VISION VOL. XVISpecial Guest: CHIMERSWednesday April 1st 10am-NoonEastvillageradio.comJoin Leslie on Sound and Vision Wednesday April 1st as she welcomes members of Australian power duo Chimers to the show. 💥💥💥 Like many good bands, Chimers were born out isolation. Not geographically, but via the pandemic. The pair formed the band in their Wollongong backyard during the initial lockdown of 2020. Padraic taking a giant leap forward form his past as a drummer in the vibrant Wollongong garage scene, removing himself from the backseat and assuming the role of driver; singing, playing guitar and of course, song writing. Chimers combine their love of noise pop, post-punk and garage rock. A dynamic sound of discordant guitar, off-beat drum line and brash melodic vocals. Think equal parts Mission of Burma, Wipers and all things Discord Records as direct influences. The band has picked up fans in Henry Rollins, Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto, Matador and 12XU Records great, Gerard Cosloy. Leslie and Chimers members Padriac and Binx will get into the birth of the band and their influences through epic playlist they made especially for the show.📸: @anguskettley by @leslieamstein

SOUND AND VISION VOL. XVSpecial Guest: Kate Bollinger @keetiebeeWednesday March 4 10am-Nooneastvillageradio.comJoin Leslie on Sound and Vision Wednesday March 4th, 10am- Noon as she welcomes singer/songwriter Kate Bollinger to the show. The two will talk music and art and get into the fantastic playlist Kate made especially for the show. Kate Bollinger grew up in a musical family in Charlottesville, Virginia. By college, while studying poetry and cinematography, she was self-releasing folk-pop songs to the attention of The New York Times and NPR. Bollinger formed a band to record her EP, I Don't Wanna Lose, followed by the 2020 EP, A word becomes a sound. She made her Ghostly International debut in 2022 with Look at it in the Light. Her 2024 full-length debut, Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind was made to resemble a mixtape — something carefully crafted and delivered from just one person to another, inspired by touchstones of 1960s folk-pop and 1990s indie rock. Since moving to Los Angeles, Bollinger has split time between recording new material, contributing to friends' projects (Drugdealer, Paul Cherry), touring (with Faye Webster, Tennis, Devendra Banhart, and others), and directing music videos (for Jessica Pratt and her own).📸: @holymatter by @leslieamstein
