In this video, I’m talking about my inspiration and motivation for painting Big Bend and National Parks in general. Our parks are for the people! Artists have been painting these natural wonders forever, and we sure as hell are not gonna stop now! I’m filled with pride every time I sell a painting because that means I get to donate some of that sale to organizations working to protect and fight for conservation like @npcapics

Go visit our parks! They are worth seeing.

New paintings and prints available now!! I’m thrilled to share my newest collection of paintings inspired by Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park! This region of Far West Texas is very special, and the fight to advocate for our public lands is an important facet of my life and career.
50% of original painting sales will be donated to the National Parks Conservation Association, a leader in park advocacy and legislative action.
Long Live Big Bend!

Painting Rocky Mountain National Park! This is one of my most revisited parks. When I lived in Colorado, I would visit Rocky Mountain every weekend I could. It’s a magical park with gorgeous jagged peaks and some of the most exciting wildlife viewing in the country. I didn’t know cold until I walked in snow that went up to my knees and the icy snowfall stung my face in high winds, but when the sun starts coming out again and you can finally see some green, that’s when the magic arrives.
This small painting and many others will be available on November 13 as part of my Small Works show.

Painting Arches National Park! This piece will be part of my small works show coming up in November. The color palette of the desert is my absolute favorite, so it’s a shame I’ve only been to one of Utah’s five national parks. I have to fix that soon!
We stopped by Arches on our way to Grand Junction, CO. My time in Arches was filled with the most perfect weather, short enjoyable hikes, and lots and lots of pictures taken. Every landscape artist has more “future painting” pictures than we would ever be able to complete in one lifetime. Hope to be back at Arches one day to see the park more thoroughly. ✌️

Ocotillo in Bloom, 2026
Oil on canvas
Sold 🔴

This was the first painting to be sold during my Big Bend Country release, and it is also the most popular fine art print on my website. I think the color appeals to a lot of viewers, maybe. For me, I love the movement of the ocotillo traveling up and the playful swirl of the clouds. taken in Big Bend Ranch State Park by @lesliedeleonart

A commissioned piece I completed earlier this year! I’ve never been good at recording the painting process because somewhere along the way I totally forget the camera is there and all I want to do is paint. That is the very best way to make art, when you don’t have to worry about getting a hundred tiny video clips along the way. But still, I try my best to record and feed the beast that is social media.
This piece was a huge Texas Hill Country scene with massive black doors disrupting the environment. Very cool idea that I got to bring to life.
These days in the studio I’m working on a few commission request before the holiday season rolls around, so if you’re interested in a special personalized original artwork, don’t wait til the last minute! Visit my website for more information on commissions.

It’s been a month since the release of Big Bend Country, my collection of paintings inspired by Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Because of the support this series has received, I was able to donate over two thousand dollars to the National Park Conservation Association and the National Parks Foundation. I don’t have a lot of followers and my paintings aren’t super expensive, but I think that goes to show the power of art and community coming together for what we believe in.
