There was something about Allison that just felt very human to me. She has already done the thing so many writers dream about. She wrote a bestselling novel. But instead of feeling like she has officially made it, she is questioning whether she ever deserved that success in the first place.

And whew, that little voice telling you everybody is eventually going to figure out you have no idea what you’re doing? Yeah. I know her. 😂

Allison Turns the Page follows Allison Hoffman as both her writing career and personal life hit a wall. The book she actually wants to write isn’t what anyone wants from her, her confidence is basically hanging on by a thread, and then an unexpected connection begins through anonymous notes after she leaves her rejected manuscript in a Little Free Library.

What I really enjoyed was that Allison’s story never became solely about finding romance. Watching her figure out who she was outside of success, expectations, heartbreak, and what everyone else wanted from her was the part that kept me invested.

The anonymous notes added this cute little layer of mystery that had me curious, but the emotional side of Allison’s journey was what worked best for me. She’s messy and insecure sometimes, and she absolutely gets in her own way, which occasionally had me wanting to lovingly shake her. 😂 But honestly, that’s also what made her feel real.

There were a few moments where I wanted the story to move a little faster, especially when Allison was circling some of the same fears. Still, it never took away from how much I enjoyed watching her slowly start trusting herself again.

This is for my readers who love contemporary women’s fiction with romance, humor, second chances, personal reinvention, and a heroine whose biggest love story might actually be learning how to choose herself.

I closed this one smiling. Sometimes the chapter you never planned for ends up being exactly the one you needed.

What I liked most was how human Allison felt. She’s funny, insecure, hopeful, and occasionally frustrating. Her humor keeps the story light, but there’s real emotion beneath it as she confronts rejection, heartbreak, and the issues she has hidden from everyone, including herself.

I appreciated that her growth wasn’t immediate. She made questionable choices, repeated a few mistakes, and sometimes needed a firm little pep talk. Don’t we all?

This is a warm, relatable read for anyone who enjoys connections, emotional slow burns, second chances, love after heartbreak, and personal reinvention. Fans of Nora Goes Off Script, Book Lovers, and Just for the Summer should feel right at home.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed reading this book. Allison is such a relatable character. She is a romance writer and just isn't feeling it anymore so decides to change her writing.

I found myself laughing outloud at parts of this book especially with her inner dialogue.

This journey she is on is messy and not easy but she definitely grows from this.

An enjoyable read.

Allison Turns the Page was a heartwarming and witty read! I absolutely loved the main character; she felt so realistic and raw. The storyline, writing, and characters were easy to connect with and made you feel all the emotions. This book had everything I could’ve asked for; it was funny, cute, messy, and just all around great. I couldn’t put this one down and can’t wait to read more by Leslie A. Rasmussen!

My review

Allison turns the page was a nice pleasant easy but not at all predictable read.

Allison is an author and the story is based around the awful choices she makes concerning her love life and her struggles to write her 2nd novel.

I enjoyed the pacing of this story. I laughed and cringed at the plot. The characters were fantastic and very likeable. I found Allison a little frustrating at times but I feel I was meant too. There were a few occasions were I just wanted to shout at her.

I really liked how the story ended especially as it wasn't the ending I expected. by @leslierauthor

This was an interesting take on the romance genre that kept me guessing about how it was going to end! I enjoyed the self-reflexive nature of the story and the way Allison finds herself and navigates her relationships whilst writing novels and essays about her experiences. It was easy to read and I especially liked Sally the dog! 🐾 The penpal/book swap plot was a nice touch as well.

I really enjoyed Allison Turns The Page. The cover was really pretty.
I really enjoyed Allison. It’s not everyday someone makes their dreams a reality as a writer. She’s so relatable and I love it. I feel like she has a great support system but they also aren’t afraid to be real with her which is always the best kind of support.
I love that she utilizes a little free library. I personally love little free libraries. I sometimes find the best books from indie authors in them. Donating to them is always thrilling as well.
I don’t think she expected to become part of a love triangle.
Allison Turns the page is a book with heartwarming romance, second chance romance and love after heartbreak. This was the perfect weekend read during the start of fall.
