Grateful for much 🍂 So thankful to celebrate 15 years in the Dominican Republic for 2nd Mile, Josh and Jocelyn's Birthdays, and finally meet one of the newest members of the family🤍 by @lesliewildman
The church next door was beautiful. It's bells rang softly every 15 minutes from sunrise into the late evening. Every time I would hear them, I couldn't help but think of the lyrics to one of my favorite old hymns.. {Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace} Thankful for this beautiful memory. It's one that will not be forgotten🕊🇮🇹 by @lesliewildman

So grateful to take another group to the Dominican Republic. It's always so good to see our family and friends there. Our time with the children at the schools was full of joy and lots of laughter however, this trip was unlike any other 💔 Monte Verde is a Haitian village we always visit the first day. It's such a special place and where it all began for 2nd Mile Missions. A few weeks back, the Dominican government came in unexpectedly, ripping people out of their beds and away from their homes. A mass deportation began and the entire village was bulldozed into piles of rubble. Many were friends.. many were students at the schools. Some were left displaced. Some went into hiding. Yet, the church itself remained standing. We walked the grounds of the village in disbelief.. reminded of all the beautiful faces and sweet memories we've experienced there. Its taken some time to find the words to express what we felt and have continued to feel since then. The brokenness has been tangible but so is the hope we carry. It was a blessing to spend time with Pastor E that day and just sit with him, hear his heart, and also his gratitude in the midst of the situation. 65 plus members of the church continue to gather on the back patio of his home outside of the village. We surrounded him with our love and tears and more importantly, our prayers. Every challenge or heartbreak in the past has always indicated the next miracle God had in store for this place and for 2nd Mile. Story after story, this call and mission have greatly impacted so many of our lives forever which is why we are believing something good will come from this. Something God 🇩🇴❤️‍🩹 🙏🏽On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail - Matthew 16:18 🙏🏽My salvation is on the way and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm - Isaiah 51:5 🙏🏽I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you - Genesis 28:15 🙏🏽Good news for the poor, comfort for the broken hearted, beauty for ashes, blessing instead of mourning, praise instead of despair - Isaiah 61 by @lesliewildman
