To my Tuskegee University family,Thank you from the bottom of my heart.GOD DID! All glory to the man above for giving me the strength, the platform, and the purpose to walk in this moment.Being named your 97th Miss Tuskegee University is more than an honor for me… it is a full-circle moment, a prayer answered, and a dream I carry not only for myself, but for my family.As a first-generation college student, I came to Tuskegee not always knowing what to expect. This university took me in, nurtured me, and gave me the space to grow into my voice, my confidence, and my calling. Tuskegee has truly shaped me.I carry this moment with a full heart, especially as I think about my brother. Although he is no longer here physically, his presence has never left me. He is a part of my strength, my drive, and the reason I continue to push forward even on the hardest days. This win is for him. My inspiration ❤️ #heartofawomen #womenshistorymonthAs a young child, my mother poured into me in ways I didn’t even realize would shape the woman I am today. She instilled love, confidence, prayer, faith, and affirmations. Always reminding me who I am even before I fully knew it myself. As a first generation college student, I carry more than my own dreams, I carry hers! I carry the sacrifices she made, the prayers she whispered, and the strength she showed me every single day. Because of God and my mother, I’ve been able to walk into rooms with faith, confidence, and purpose, knowing I belong there.The “Heart of a Woman” lives within her: through her resilience, her grace, her strength, and the way she never stopped believing in me, even when I doubted myself. She continuously shows me that strength isn’t always loud, sometimes it looks like love and never giving up. “Life is Easy, Life is Good, All Good Things Come to Me”. This isn’t just something she said, it’s something she lives by, and now it’s something I live by every day. I could not go throughout my campaign without giving my mother flowers for continuously inspiring me! The Miseducation of Leslie Jean 👩🏽‍⚕️Thank you God, for placing me in a position where my heart is open to helping others. It’s truly humbling to witness something so much bigger than myself. This experience has reminded me how often we take the simplest things like walking, talking, and even expressing ourselves for granted. Seeing the strength of the kids and their families has given me a deeper appreciation for life and purpose. I pray that I continue to be a vessel of love, compassion, and service in every way I can.It was such a great opportunity to get hands-on experience and clinical shadowing at a Children Physical Therapy, Autism, and Rehabilitation facility in Oaxaca, Mexico. Where I have enhanced my understanding of different therapeutic approaches, improved my spanish speaking skills through communication and engagement, and a global perspective on healthcare. by @lesliexjean
