What an absolute honor and privilege to meet da legend @konishikiyasokichi. First foreign sumo champion, Ozeki, who felled greats like Chiyonofuji and Kitanoumi. He led the way for later greats Akebono, Musashimaru, and in my opinion the great Mongolians who came later. He was gracious and a wonderful host. We even got to meet one of his great rivals Kirishima the 1st who hosted us at his chanko restaurant. Also a huge thank you to @charlieosings for hosting us at the basho and sending us some of the great pics he took. Anyone visiting Japan in January, May, or September should look into Konishiki’s VIP sumo tours in Tokyo. by @lessheavytrav

Samurai Ninja Museum where Francesca won the shuriken throwing contest (so cool 🤩). Some of our Gion walking tour and temple visit in Kyoto. Delicious wagyu and takoyaki 😋. Tanuki statue. Goodbye, Kyoto. Onward to 大阪 by @lessheavytrav

Nomi no Sukune Shrine. The God of Sumo. I prayed for a victory for Kotozakura today. Engraved on the stones are all the yokozuna since they started dispensing the license. Definite bucket list item for me checking this out. Now off to watch day 2 of the basho! by @lessheavytrav

A dream come true. Best birthday present ever. For years I’ve wanted South Park’s woodland Christmas critters manger scene for Xmas decorations. My kickass wife delivered in spades. Our lord and savior will be born in 6 months time. by @lessheavytrav
