a few days late to April 8th - the day of Russian animation - but here’s some sequences from soviet and early post-soviet animation films featuring France or referencing French culture :

1-2 : Волшебное кольцо / Magic ring (1979) - Paris and its famous landmarks seen as Masha (the cat) and Zhuzha (the dog) go and retrieve back the stolen magic ring

3 : Приключения капитана Врунгеля / Adventures of Captain Wrongel (1976) - Venus de Milo is stolen from the Royal Museum of Arts, which loosely resembles the Louvre (which is where real-life statue of Venus has been displayed since 1821)

4-5 : Серый Волк энд Красная Шапочка / Grey Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood (1990) - Charles Aznavour is mentioned and “La Vie en Rose” plays during grandma’s first appearance, who lives under the Eiffel Tower :)

6 : Ограбление по… / Roberry…style (1978) - one of the four segments is supposed to be a stereotypical film noir that showcases a parody of a french-style robbery

7-8 : Кот в сапогах / Puss in boots (1995) - Ivan Karabasov ends up in Renaissance France and wants to impress the king and marry the princess ; another sequence features a parody of “La Liberté guidant le peuple” while the liberated sing “La Marseillaise”

9 : Пёс в сапогах / Dog in boots (1981) - a retelling of the Three Musketeers novel but with cats and dogs, which happens partially in France ; human characters heard speaking French under the Russian dub

some of these are childhood gems, others I discovered while making this post, hope they piqued your interest :) by @lesya_eduard
