Knitting obsessed. Can’t remember life before needles.
Sonnet top pattern ⬇️
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I made the mistakes so you don’t have to. My second Wisp Sweater is almost finished, and this time every one of those lessons is built in.

The pattern is almost ready too, and I’ll be looking for test knitters very soon.

Follow so you don’t miss the reveal 🤗

Which came first: the dog or the knit? 🤗

While I was dog-sitting Betty, a red poodle, I couldn’t stop looking at how beautifully her colours went with Hugo’s.

As a thank-you, Betty’s mom sent me four skeins of bouclé, rust for Betty and beige for Hugo, with a little note: “Let Betty & Hugo inspire you.”

So I knitted their colours together into a hot water bottle cover. Now Betty’s side of the bed isn’t cold and empty, and I can hug them both at once ♡

And then the knit inspired the dog: Hugo got his own giraffe spots to match.

Two dogs → yarn → a cosy cover → back to the dog. It’s an inspiration circle.

I didn’t need new needles. I have enough for every project I could possibly cast on, and I told myself that for weeks. It didn’t help. I kept coming back to look at this Seeknit set.

So I made a deal with myself. I used my LYKKE Driftwood and my ChiaoGoo Shorties for a while, but I hadn’t picked up either in a long time. I sold both and got the set I actually wanted.

I love knitting with wood. But wooden interchangeables almost never go below 3 mm, so under that it’s usually fixed circulars or metal. These start at 2.25 mm.

The cord surprised me most. I thought nothing would beat ChiaoGoo Twist, and this one is thinner and softer.

And honestly, they’re just f*cking gorgeous. I keep the case open on my desk so I can look at them😁

Have you ever sold needles you stopped using for ones you can’t put down?

Finally, weather for the jumper 💙

I knit it back in June after spotting a similar one at Arket, and I couldn’t think about anything else.

But who are we to buy it ready-made for 1.5x less, when we could buy the yarn and spend about 40+ hours in pure ecstasy with cashmere on the needles?😅

Zero regrets. Would do it again.

Uneven stockinette is rarely just about your hands. Here’s the full breakdown 👇

1. The yarn. It’s 70% of success. Even stitches come from yarn that springs back: look for elasticity and a good, balanced twist, which pull every stitch back into shape. Pure merino is a great benchmark thanks to its natural crimp. A soft, even halo can also hide small tension differences.

2. Blocking. Water and time let stitches settle and redistribute, and nothing fully replaces a proper wet block. Steaming is my favorite companion to it: hover the iron just above the fabric without pressing, and the stitches relax and even out in seconds. Use it to tidy pieces along the way without soaking each one, or as the final touch after blocking.

3. Purl tension. Most knitters purl looser than they knit, and in flat stockinette those rows stack up into visible stripes. Try a needle half a size smaller for purl rows ( I always do so, that’s why my swatches have 2 needles size marks😉), or knit in the round when the design allows it: no purl rows, no stripes.

4. Needles. On grippy wood or bamboo you tug the yarn more, and your tension jumps around. Slick metal needles let stitches glide and settle evenly.

A few more things to check:

• Form each stitch on the full needle shaft, not on the tapered tip, or your stitches will vary in size.

• Needles too big for the yarn make every tension change more visible.

Which one made the biggest difference for you?

My swatches remember their needle size, so I don’t have to 🧶

I mark the needle size right in the fabric by working a few purl stitches at the edge of my stockinette swatch. Here’s my system:

Row 1: whole millimetres
The number of purl stitches = the needle size.
3 purls = 3 mm needles

Row 2 (just above): in-between sizes
Needles don’t always come in whole sizes, so the row above adds the rest:

1 purl = +0.5 mm
2 purls = +0.25 mm
3 purls = +0.75 mm
No purls above = a whole size

Examples:
3 purls + 1 purl above = 3.5 mm
3 purls + 2 purls above = 3.25 mm
3 purls + 3 purls above = 3.75 mm

No tags, no notes to lose, and it survives blocking and washing 🙌

I used to hate knitting buttonholes — cutting the yarn every time meant no redos without knots 🥲 Here’s my no-cut method

This method works for a buttonhole on 1x1 rib.
Place a marker at the center point where the buttonhole will be. In my video, the total stitch count is 17, so one side has 8 sts and the other has 9.

Important: the first row below (the one ending in a turn) must end with a knit stitch.

You’ll also need to decide on the buttonhole height — always an odd number of rows. In the video it’s 5 rows; for thinner yarn, I’ve done 3 rows.

Count how many turns happen in the center, since you’ll need to cast on that same number of stitches for the second side. For a 3-row buttonhole, that’s 1 turn → cast on 1 st. For 5 rows, that’s 2 turns → cast on 2 sts.

Below is the method for a 5-row buttonhole (as shown in the video).

The 1st side
Row 1: work to last side st, knit, turn (1st turn)
Row 2: slip, work to end
Rows 3–4: repeat rows 1–2 (2nd turn)

Transfer to the other side
Row 5: work to last st, pick up the thread between sts from the front, k2tog the last st with this thread, cast on 2 sts using the backwards loop method, work the 2nd buttonhole side (must start with purl) to the end

The other side
Row 6: work to last side st, ssk the last st with one cast-on st, turn
Row 7: slip, work to end
Rows 8–9: repeat rows 6–7

Join sides
Row 10: work to last st of the side, ssk this last st with the thread over the buttonhole, work to end

My knitting project would like to formally complain — this trip is too packed to get any real progress in, so trains and planes are my only shot 😅🧶

Made this bag in just 2 days 💪🏼
Yarn: Raffia Ispie, a little over 1.5 skeins

I rarely crochet — knitting needles are my usual thing — but every once in a while a bag or something happens 😄

I straighten literally any yarn like this now, literally any yarn!

My world will never be the same 💡

Turning even the curliest, most stubborn frogged yarn into something I can actually reknit with

The bag was cute, but no water bottle survived the fit and two handles just weren’t it for me — hence the frog

yarn: Raffia by Ispie

Introducing the Sonnet Top pattern🧶

A structured cable top with two neckline options — classic crew or mock neck — so it works for you year-round.

Every size comes with its own visual stitch chart, mapped out stitch by stitch, so grading never gets confusing no matter your size.

This design is timeless — elegant in Silky by Lana Gatto for summer (like in the video 🤍), and just as stunning knit in Cardiff Cashmere Silk 8 or Pascuali Pinta for a cozier, cooler-weather version.
The pattern includes video links for every technique used, so you’re never guessing — just following along.

Pattern is live now — link in bio ✨
