🄿🄰🅁🅃 1

Yesterday, my husband and I came across the largest Giant puff ball mushrooms we have ever seen. It was like a Willy Wonka mushroom patch.

We decided to take one home, carrying this biggin for about half a mile.

We weighed it when we got home and it was
FIFTEEN POUNDS!!

I'll be sharing a Part 2 where we cooked some of it up and incorporated it into our weekly curry dish.

Part 3 will have clips on how we are preserving it for later use. There's so much to freeze up either as future meals or to give away.

What an unexpected, but amazing foraging find!

HOLY MOLY

Part 1 blew tf up 😂

So here's Part 2 on how we cooked the 15 lb Giant puff ball 🍄‍🟫 we found walking around our neighborhood.

This was such a treat!

My husband did the heavy lifting in the kitchen, cutting away the leathery exterior, revealing the tender, spongey interior. If I could make a pillow or bed out of it, I would.

He cubed the mushroom, examining each piece for any discoloration or oxidation, and we were fortunate that it was nearly perfect.

He sautéed them in a bounty of butter, salt, pepper, and garlic, a basic foundation for any dish.

After, they were golden brown on every side, we added it to our curry sauce and poured it over basmati rice.

Them on their own was flipping delicious!

There's a few recipes we want to try next with the leftovers, but we're going to freeze most of it for another rainy day 🌧

🍁 𝐴𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑚𝑛 𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 🍁

The past 5 years have felt like a soul cleanse
and now my body is asking for the same

I started walking this week, with the intention of doing nothing, but moving and observing

No music, no audio book, just letting my mind be frantic, wander, until the noise dissolves

I'm witnessing the changes, the birdsong, random winged creatures, the seasonal medicine , the quiet, it's been rather soothing

11k are the current goal every day
A walk around the lake, 1.5 hours
No work, just movement therapy
With the greatest healer 💚🌎

Like when people you used to ask, "Where were you when you found out about JFK?" or the twin towers, where were you when found out about the resistance attack against Is/rael? When you found out Is/rael were not the good guys? When you found out 🇵🇸 was once sovereign but foreign affairs deliberately and maliciously dismantled their infrastructure?
When you found out that Gaz@ has the most amount of child amputees in the world, because of weapons our [US] gov=t sells to a genocidal entity?

I was in the church for almost 30 years and never once heard about Palestine. I only heard of 🇵🇸 a handful of times in movies, but never purposely went to a map to find them. The propaganda worked.

Until it didn't.

Until I was cracked open 3 years ago, like so many.

It feels like touching my tongue to an electric fence saying 3 years ago... Witnessing so many souls being ripped from this Earth... Watching ppl struggle with this reality...I don't know, I've watched enough dystopian movies that this feels dystopian as all hell.
Many of us thought the world would stop and be quick to end this madness, but the world kept spinning.

I don't know in what ways to share the utter heartbreak, tears, grief, rage, torment, burnout, and I don't really want to. This isn't about me. This is about a people of rich culture & history who want to survive, live freely, watch their children play without terror, grow old in joy, that's what this is about.

I'm sorry the world has not stopped for you 🇵🇸

And thank you to the ones who have courageously stood up to the Goliath.

Jane Doe, whoever you are ❤️‍🩹

You have a whole world of women/femme and some good men who are fighting alongside you, raising your voice, and holding your spirit

Having my own similar experiences, this week has been really triggering, and met with deep sadness, and rage

If your experiences started in childhood like mine, there's this deep sense of betrayal to oneself and a relentless pressure of confusion and worthlessness

Breaking our souls and piecing ourselves together again without safety or guidance

The unraveling can take a lifetime, from even one selfish, violent, malignant act

Even after years of repair

The electricity can still be on

We didn't ask for it
We didn't deserve it

And neither did you, Jane Doe

May we all agree, it's time for the untamed

Even if it's not super fancy like mine. 2 years ago, I had to request Parable of the Talents by Octavia E Butler to be brought over to our local branch, because it wasn't ever read there

I hope that's changed since then

I am going to be doing a lot of reading as the weather changes, grows cooler, and the Earth readies for Winter approaching

I don't know much about these books yet, and can't fully vouch if they are worth the read, but that's the cool thing about libraries

It's FREE

So if you don't have one, go to your local library and get a card! There's an abundance of knowledge waiting for you 🌱
