What if grief and gratitude could exist together?

This week on Let’s Choose Again, we welcome our dear friend Stephanie Jacobs, who shares her extraordinary journey through the loss of her four-year-old son, Wes, in a tragic accident 20 years ago.

Through the years, Stephanie has continued to choose healing. Through physical transformation, yoga, the unconditional love of her dogs, and ultimately returning to Primary Children’s Hospital, a place she had avoided for years because of the pain it held.

Her journey reminds us that healing isn’t about forgetting, moving on, or becoming someone new. It’s about allowing life to bring forward what we haven’t yet been able to face, giving us opportunities to release, soften, and rediscover the wholeness that has always been within us.

Gratitude doesn’t replace grief. Love makes room for both.

Wes’s life continues to be honored through the love Stephanie carries, the life she lives, and the beautiful ways she gives back.

THINGS I’VE LEARNED FROM MY MOM 🤍
This episode is about being loved without being shaped into someone else.
My mom let me be the rugged, tomboy kid I naturally was. She taught me to respect people without putting them above me, to know that I am already whole, and to experience life instead of constantly judging myself through the character I think I’m supposed to be.
And maybe one of the greatest things she taught me was through what she didn’t do—she didn’t try to live my life for me. She witnessed me, loved me, and let me grow through my own joy, heartbreak, loss, mistakes, and becoming.
Sometimes love isn’t fixing. Sometimes it’s seeing someone exactly as they are—and letting them discover for themselves who they’ve always been. 🤍

BIRD LAUNCHERS 🕊️
There comes a moment in motherhood when we have to loosen our grip on the nest and trust the little birds we’ve spent our lives raising to find their own way. 🤍
Rachael had just returned from taking her last son to college, so we sat down to talk about what it really feels like to launch our kids into their own lives — stepping back from the family nervous system, trusting their internal navigation, and allowing them to discover what they want, how they want to live, and who they are becoming.
But maybe the launch isn’t only theirs.
As the schedules change, the house gets quieter, and the role of “Mom” begins to take up a little less space, who are we now?
This season can be an invitation to come back into our own energetic system — our imagination, creativity, friendships, desires, adventures and all the pieces of ourselves that may have gotten quieter while we were raising everyone else.
Our children get to begin again… and so do we.
And maybe one of the greatest gifts we can give them is showing them what it looks like to keep creating a beautiful life of our own.
Plus… we give a lot less fucks at 50, so why wouldn’t we? 😂🕊️
