(People always assume we have a team of filmmakers traveling with us, but I can assure you it’s just us, juggling kids and camera gear and drones and somehow making it happen, followed by Georg sitting in our office“cave” for two months afterwards to pull it all together with his editing magic. So we thought some BTS photos could help show the “making of” haha…)

Would you ride this??

Ok hear me out… There are mountain coasters all over the Alps, BUT this one is definitely top three for us (out of the three we’ve been on so far 🤪). Seriously though, look at the views!

If you’re planning a trip to the Dolomites make sure to include one of these epic little coasters on your itinerary.

You control your own speed, with signs suggesting when to slow down so you don’t fly off the track 😅

One of the reasons we moved from Lombok to the Dolomites last year was to give the kids more access to a wider variety of life experiences, but I don’t think we realized how fun things would be for us adults as well haha… I can’t wait to explore more of our new backyard 🤩

But really though, how smooth are those rotations?! 🤩

We just got back from a week and a half in Ireland where we got to try out the new DJI Mini 5 Pro, and man the weather there seriously put it to the ultimate test.

Insane steady wind plus some hefty gusts along the way and we honestly weren’t sure if this little drone would be able to get the footage we were hoping for along the coast.

But LOOK at how epic it was! We were completely blown away by what the Mini 5 Pro can do, and luckily this amazing little drone was NOT blown away but instead handled itself incredibly well 🙌

When the camera set up is half the size of your body so you use your knees to stabilize the lens, and you STILL nail the shot 🤩

After almost three months of traveling (how did we end up in the country with the longest school summer break in the world? 😵‍💫) we’re finally home in the Dolomites, the kids are back in school, and it’s time to start catching up with work!

Our second stop on our Central Asia trip was Kyrgyzstan. We spent about a month there, first road tripping in a Russian van, then followed by two incredible UNSCRIPTED Masterclasses.

So much more to come!

PS- Yes we know our mic cover was off, we lost it hiking up the mountain with the eagle hunter 🫠

While Tara and the kids spent the week back in Colorado, I took the chance to explore our own backyard here in the Dolomites. A simple left turn out of our driveway and you’re already in the mountains… I drove about 30 minutes before starting this epic 13km hike which ended with the most insane views I’ve witnessed in quite a while.

Bilbo (LOTR) said: “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” Just a friendly reminder that getting out there is the whole goal 😉

(Ad) DJI asked me to take the Osmo Pocket 4 for a spin, and what better way than to leave all the rest of our gear behind and only pack this little camera to see what I could get.

The dynamic range and 60fps in D-LOG make it something I can easily mix into our other work. What actually surprised me was the 14+ stops of dynamic range, which let me capture the mountains and the clouds in all their raw beauty 🤩 Truly impressive stuff.

For the “follow me” shots I stuck the Osmo on a tripod, and extended the tripod slightly above and behind me. Then I used the DJI Mimo app to frame the shot, because the gimbal isn’t just there to stabilize, it’s also a mini robotic arm you can use to adjust the camera angle. That came in handy for the final shot of me sitting on the rock too. I could just open the app and remotely adjust the framing from across the rock!

Next time I need to minimize my gear I won’t hesitate to downsize to just the OSMO Pocket 4.

We’ve wanted to do a color hunt for the longest time, so when we found ourselves in Kazakhstan on Father’s Day (yes this was in June, yes I know we are insanely behind in posting on IG 😅) we thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate and to get Georg away from editing.

We started at the Green Bazaar then wandered through downtown and ended up at the insanely beautiful Ascension Cathedral.

How did we do?! Also did you catch how serious Bodhi was in our intro? He was trying so hard to remember all the words that he wasn’t capable of smiling at the same time 🥹😆

This new little camera is a total game changer 🤯

I had a heck of time exploring the new DJI Osmo Pocket 4P in Toronto for the day.

*ad This was my first time with a vlog camera of the Pocket series, and I must say the built-in stabilization is so crazy useful and the dynamic range on that thing is mind boggling.

It has definitely earned its place in our camera bag (maybe even replacing a few of our old favorites 😅).

Tag someone you’d sit here with 😍

We don’t usually post that much about where we live, but I just cannot believe this is our new backyard. Every time we go exploring around South Tyrol we can’t stop talking about how insanely beautiful it is here. I hope the absolute awe and wonder never wear off 🥹

Two years ago we packed up our lives in the mountains of Colorado, rented out our house, said goodbye to all our friends and family, and hopped a one-way flight overseas ✈️

After living in Lombok, Indonesia for a year, we decided we needed another new change of scenery, so this time we moved to the Dolomites (we had never been to South Tyrol before, but somehow we just knew it was the right place for us) 😅

I think it’s safe to say we make a spectacular choice, because just LOOK at this place! I still can’t believe we have created this life for ourselves, and I’m so thankful everyday.

I just traveled from the Dolomites to Toronto to get my hands on the not-yet-released DJI OSMO Pocket 4P!

While I can’t reveal any of the details just yet, trust me when I say this little camera is going to be a total game changer for our Fernweh film productions 🎬
