What if your gratitude journal could
do more than capture the good moments? 🤎

Here are 8 reasons your brain (and your story) might need one more than you think.

As a neuroscience nurse practitioner for nearly 30 years, I’ve come to appreciate how something as simple as putting pen to paper can help us organize our thoughts, recognize repeating patterns, and create a moment to pause.

And gratitude journaling takes it one step further.

Our brains are constantly learning from what we repeatedly pay attention to. When we intentionally practice gratitude, we give our brains opportunities to notice and appreciate moments we might otherwise overlook.
That’s neuroplasticity in practice.
It’s one of the reasons I created the LetSoul Gratitude Journal.

More than 200 beautiful pages to hold your thoughts, reflections, and the story only you can tell.

And because understanding the WHY matters, your journal also includes access to The Grateful Brain course, where we explore the neuroscience behind gratitude.
For yourself or someone you love, it’s more than a journal. It’s an invitation to make space for your own story.
🤎 Your story matters. Own it. Write it. Live it with gratitude.

My life didn’t go as planned.
War, a career I didn’t plan, divorce, single parenting, starting over more than once…

LetSoul was not created from a perfect life.
I fumbled, made mistakes, felt uncertain, struggled.
Somewhere along the way, journaling and gratitude became how I made sense of my life.
LetSoul was created from a life that needed reflection, clarity, and a reset more than once.

And that’s why I believe this so deeply:
The most powerful story is yours.

If this post resonated with you, save it for a day you need this reminder. by @letsoullife

For years I watched strong women try to think their way out of exhaustion.

I know how that feels — because I was one of them.

We did everything right. The affirmations. The gratitude checklist. The positive mindset work.

And we still felt stuck.

There is a reason for that — and it has nothing to do with how hard we tried.

It has everything to do with what chronic stress does to three specific parts of your brain.

Watch this to the end. What I share in this video changed how I practice — and it will change how you understand yourself.

📌 Save this for the woman in your life who is trying so hard and still feels like she is failing.

Sometimes it’s not just everything on your plate.

It’s feeling like you should be able to handle it all without struggling.

And asking for help? That can feel like admitting you can’t.

But what if, instead you asked, “What support do I actually need?”

You can be strong and still need support. 🤎

Do you ever catch yourself thinking, “I should be able to handle this”?

If this sounds familiar, let’s talk. Link in bio. by @letsoullife

So, what exactly is With Love Live?

It’s three hours dedicated to exploring three questions:

1. What did I decide then?
2. What wisdom do I have now?
3. What do I get to decide again?

Think about it.

At some point in your life, you may have decided your voice didn’t matter. That you weren’t enough. That you had to keep everyone else happy or that being yourself wasn’t safe.

And maybe you’ve been carrying that belief for years without even realizing it.

That’s what we’re going to explore at With Love Live on October 24.

You’ll hear my keynote, an opening keynote from Monica “Mic” Curtis, and stories from our Share Your Wisdom speakers about the beliefs they formed early in life, how those beliefs shaped them, and what they know now.

But this afternoon isn’t just about hearing other people’s stories.

It’s about reconnecting with your own.

Through guided reflection and writing, you’ll have the opportunity to identify a belief you’ve been carrying, connect with the younger version of you who first learned it, and write them a Love Note filled with the wisdom you have today.

And before you walk out that door, I want you to consider what you get to decide differently moving forward.

Maybe it’s using your voice, setting a boundary, taking a chance on yourself, or finally believing you’re enough.

Now I want to turn those three questions back to you.

What did your younger self come to believe?

What do you know now that you wish you knew then?

And what might change if you gave yourself permission to decide again?

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to share anything you don’t want to or anything at all. And you can absolutely come alone.

That’s why I created With Love Live. Not so you leave with a notebook full of someone else’s wisdom, but so you leave more connected to your own.

Meet Goranka Vucenovic-Kanouse, one of our Share Your Wisdom speakers at With Love Live! 💗 @letsoullife

Who Are You Without the Gold Star? Breaking the Perfectionism Patterns We Learned Early

The patterns we learn early shape how we see ourselves and, ultimately, how we live our lives. But they don’t have to define who we become.

Goranka will share her story and the wisdom she would offer her younger self today, inviting you to reflect on the perfectionism patterns you may have learned early.

A wife, mom, neuroscience nurse practitioner, and founder of LetSoul, Goranka brings more than 25 years of experience in neuroscience. She is fascinated by how our thoughts, beliefs, and experiences shape the stories we tell ourselves.

Through LetSoul, she helps women recognize the patterns keeping them stuck and discover how small shifts in perspective, gratitude, and self-awareness can change the way they experience their lives.

Join Goranka and our other speakers at With Love Live on October 24, from 1–4 PM at Nature Valley Lodge in North Lawrence, Ohio, for an afternoon of reflection, stories, and reconnecting with your younger self.

I asked Monica one simple question. Her answer made me think about how much of our childhood we carry into adulthood.

I loved spending time with @badewithmic, Monica Curtis Bade, a gifted wordsmith and someone I consider a t r u e advocate for humanity.

We talked about our younger selves, the masks we learn to wear, and how our past experiences shape who we become.

One thing we both recognized? Sometimes, on the other side of resilience, we discover a deeper capacity for empathy.

And why am I grateful for my yesterdays, even the difficult ones?

You’ll have to listen to find out. 🤎

Thank you, Monica, for such a meaningful conversation and welcome to LetSoul Life Series. 🤎🙏 by @letsoullife

5 reasons your brain may need a journal more than you think:

1. It gets thoughts out of your head. Writing can externalize worries and fears instead of leaving you to mentally rehearse them.

2. It’s available at 2 a.m. No appointment. No waiting. Your journal can be a place to put what your mind keeps carrying.

3. It helps you notice patterns. On paper, repeated thoughts, triggers, beliefs, and reactions can become easier to see.

4. Writing lights up your brain like a Christmas tree. Putting your thoughts on paper engages more of your brain than simply letting them spin around in your head.

5. It can help your body slow down, too. Reflective writing can support relaxation and down-regulation rather than keeping you caught in constant mental urgency.

“Stories are data with a soul.” — Brené Brown

And your brain is always using your story.

It doesn’t interpret every present moment from scratch. It uses prior learning and experiences to help make sense of what’s happening now.

That’s why sometimes we’re not only responding to the moment in front of us—we’re responding through the lens of what our brain has learned to expect.

The pause is where awareness begins.

Have you ever caught yourself reacting to an old story in a new situation?🤎 by @letsoullife

I wish I had understood and practiced this years ago.

I used to think calm was something I had to wait for—when life slowed down, the stress passed, or everything finally felt settled.

But your nervous system has a built-in braking system.

Your parasympathetic nervous system, with the vagus nerve as a major pathway, helps your body shift from activation toward rest and recovery.

And we can intentionally support that shift. (Emphasis on intentionally).

Stressful meeting? Difficult conversation? Overwhelming day?

Try slowing your breathing and making your exhale a little longer than your inhale.

Think of it as practicing calm on demand—not forcing calm, but giving your nervous system input that supports regulation.

Calm isn’t just something you wait for.

It’s something you can practice. 🤎 by @letsoullife

During this conference, I was reminded of something worth sharing:
We practice both art and science.

Science helps us understand the brain, the body, and why we do what we do.

But there is also an art to being human — listening, connecting, noticing, and understanding the story behind the person.

After decades in healthcare, I’m still learning.

And that combination of science + humanity is exactly what I want to bring to LetSoul. 🤎

Grateful to learn from one of the best, Dr. Margaret Fitzgerald. 🙏🤎
if you have not attended her conference, so worth signing up. @fitzgerald_health_ed taken in Nantucket Island by @letsoullife
