I wanted to take a moment to pause, look back at how far we’ve come, and say a sincere thank you to everyone who has lent their support for the park over the past decade. Being involved in this incredible project since opening day has been the privilege of a lifetime, showing me what it means to be part of something so much bigger than myself. This city and the people that come to put tires down are the fuel that keeps me stoked every single day. Even with all the local trail critics telling me how I should do it and the wonderful folks who only ride when it’s a soggy mess.

The park wouldn’t be what it is without my wonderfully supportive partner @ariel_moonn. Without her holding it down behind the scenes, I never could have dedicated myself to this dream, and she deserves as much credit as anyone for how far this park has come. I also owe a massive thank you to everyone at the Chicago Park District for putting your faith in me to build something special within our city’s amazing public spaces. To my boss, Stephen—your unwavering trust in my vision has been the engine keeping us consistently moving forward.

There is also a piece of my heart out here on these trails… Hershal, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you. I miss you so much my dude. I’ll never forget how much fun we had out here, or how much deer shit you managed to roll in.

When the shop closed, it was a heavy hit. But I am so incredibly grateful that through my work here, I’ve been able to keep pushing to make our city better and provide the riding community with the space we were always missing. Surgery to grind this ruptured disc off tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who’s lended me some optimism while I went through it, I appreciate each of you. I can’t thank @ariel_moonn enough, her patience and compassion made 5 months of excruciating pain tolerable. I’m looking forward to bike rides with Otis and Felix again soon. by @letsroastdotgov
