🕊️ Rest in peace, Michael Sweetney.

The New York Knicks mourn the passing of former first-round pick Michael Sweetney, who has died at the age of 43.

Selected ninth overall by New York in the 2003 NBA Draft out of Georgetown, Sweetney spent two seasons with the Knicks before continuing his NBA career with the Chicago Bulls. The 6-foot-8 forward later played professionally overseas and transitioned into coaching, including work with Yeshiva University.

Beyond basketball, Sweetney was a husband, father, and friend whose impact extended far beyond the court.

His wife, India, shared a heartbreaking tribute on Facebook:

“To know Mike Sweetney was love to him. No one loved him more and he loved no one more than his family. His children were the light of his life, and he lived every day to give them the best life possible. He’s been my best friend for 30 years and my husband for almost 20. I’m not sure what we or I will do without him.”

Our deepest condolences go out to India, their children, and the entire Sweetney family during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Mike. 💙🧡

👀 COULD BRUCE BROWN BE A FIT FOR THE KNICKS?

The Knicks have had interest in Brown before, including as a potential trade target in 2024.

Now, with Brown still unsigned, Daily Knicks’ Iliyan Lakhani believes New York “would see tremendous benefits” by adding the former NBA champion.

Brown averaged 7.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG & 2.1 APG last season while shooting 38.5% from three and playing all 82 games.

Would you sign Bruce Brown or who would you like to see donning the Blue and Orange?🏆🗽

Knicks FO was not interested in LeBron James.

According to Sam Amico, LeBron James’ camp reached out to the Knicks, but New York declined to pursue a deal.

The reported decision comes just weeks after the Knicks captured their first NBA championship in over 50 years, with the front office seemingly committed to its current core.
