Crossing the finish line of my first trail world major 🏅

Thank you @hanzotrn, @pookidog, and Liv for leaving the comfy, warm, and dry cabin to see me cross the finish line 🥹 and thank you for the videos 🙏🏽 I was too focused to finish the race to film my pov 😝

I was very nervous about this race, especially after I sprained my right ankle and scraped up my other leg two weeks before the race. I trained hard before that so I knew I could do it but I was still worried. I taped up my ankles and power hiked through most of the course.

My lungs were burning at the start because of the high altitude and the first 10k is a big climb; even though I knew this was the hardest part of the course, I already wanted to quit when I got to the first aid station 🫠 But I felt much better after sitting, eating peanut M&Ms & pretzels, and drinking Coke. I kept looking forward to the next aid station to reset my mind.

My sprained ankle started feeling stiff around mile 10 so I eased back on running and power hiked. Before I knew it, I was halfway done. The next goal was to get to the mile 19 aid station before the cut-off time. I got there with 45 mins to spare and thoroughly enjoyed watermelon slices and more Coke 🥤 I was told the next aid station was 3 miles away and all downhill but it was only downhill after climbing half of it first 🥸 and there was a secret cut-off at that aid station that the website didn't tell us about 🙀 I got there with 20 minutes to spare and quickly went on my way after fueling up. They told us there would be another aid station in 3 miles (this was also not on the website) but there were no aid stations to be found 🥲

By mile 27, I was pretty pooped and ready to be done in less than 5k. Then a volunteer tells me "only 4 miles to go" 💀 this was the longest 4 miles ever. Thankfully the last 2 was all downhill and I had saved enough energy to run the rest of it. I finished with an hour to spare from the finish line cut-off. Hiking most of it definitely made my experience a lot better 🙂‍↕️

I didn't mean to write this much. Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I am feeling a lot of things about this race and still wrapping my head around it. It was a great experience. It's a tough course but so, so beautiful! 😍

🚂 Hogwarts Express 🪄

We had heard mixed reviews about this but we had so much fun and I'm glad we ended up going 🦉

We went to the 8:30pm show because we had heard going in the evening was better since it's hot during the day and that there was no ac. The tent and the train were actually very well air-conditioned and I was happy to have my robe and scarf 🥶

Once we were aboard, there were House chants, trivia, and a lot of happenings from duels in the aisles to facing a dementor. I can see why people said this was geared toward kids, but it was enjoyable for Harry Potter fans of all ages 🙂‍↕️

There was a mix of Hogwarts Express exclusive merch and other things you can find at Universal Studios or other Harry Potter stores. They offered Butterbeer on draft or frosted; we got the latter 😋

There was no food other than a chocolate coin you get on the train ride and the Butterbeer you can purchase at the end of the trip at Hogsmeade. You can also get free bottles of water before or after the train ride.

Overall I really enjoyed this experience! Even though it was a bit on the expensive side, I would recommend it for Harry Potter fans!

Last altitude run for this training block. Kodiak 50k is next Saturday 🙀 Our run was cut short because I tripped when we were close to The Notch (about 7.67 miles in 🤪). Mildly twisted my right ankle and scraped & bruised up my left leg. I've been taking this week off running to make sure I heal up for race day ❤️‍🩹

I miss running 🥺

Spent Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas for my cousin's 21st birthday! It was a spontaneous and fun trip 🥳

Friday: we left at 9pm thinking traffic would be better but we still hit holiday traffic for a bit at the start 😵‍💫 we didn't get to our hotel room until 2am 😴
Saturday: we worked out at the hotel gym in the morning, met up with our aunt & cousin and had lunch at the Bellagio buffet, walked around the Strip, then we ended the night with drinks & appetizers at Dick's Last Resort 😆
Sunday: we had brunch at the Pyramid Cafe where we waited close to an hour for our food after ordering 😭, stopped by the ABC Store, left Vegas around 3pm, stopped by Eddie World, and we were back in OC around 8pm 😴

First time the Sugo siblings went on vacation together without the parents 🤓 We are just missing our big bro 🥺

I meant to get more footage but forgot because it was too hot to use brain 🫠
